Hello !

Each time that Shoto's mom appears on screen, I'm paralyzed. And here, to have her facing Endeavor to tell him that they all need to talk together about the situation of the family, and of Toya, I was clearly in stress for it ! So finishing the episode with that was a big frustration. But I'm glad they all see Endeavor crying because for once, he let them see his heart and how much he's sorry for what they endured.

For heroes to want to give up, it feels logical but it's also really bad, it sends a bad message. We also discovered Hawks' background, being mistreated by his parents, physically and mentally, and then being used by the commission which took his name and trained him to be one of their heroes. Now he's free from his past and from the commission.

I'm still french, so I'm still sorry if my english hurts you.

I had that impression that the Commission took advantage of the situation : they took a kid from a mom who was in a position of weakness, promising a lot to both, but also saying they will train him, use him. I can see the parallel with Shoto, a lot, because they both didn't have a real childhood, and I understand why another could be made with Shigaraki. And yes, I think that Hawks was forced to do a lot of things he didn't want : "we gave you a life, a name, you have to give us things in exchange". And thanks for the video, I'll check it !

Some people consider Hawks as a victim of a form of human trafficking after watching this episode, since it can certainly be argued that the Hero Public Safety Commission bought him from his mother (under the guise of saying "we will provide financial support if you give him to us and cut all ties"). There is also some parallels that people like to draw between Hawks and Shouto (being trained to be a hero from a very young age) and even Hawks and Shigaraki (being taken from an abusive situation by a powerful organization and groomed to be a hero/villain). I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on this! Knowing that Hawks has been under the Commission's control since he was six also puts a few things into perspective. When we first learned that Hawks was undercover with the League (beginning of season 5), we see a flashback of the Commission President proposing the idea. Hawks replies "Proposition? You're calling it that even though you know I can't refuse? That's mean." It wasn't something you really notice initially, but with the hindsight that the Commission controls his every action, it's concerning that he was forced into such a dangerous and emotionally taxing role, especially now that we know he truly considered Twice as a friend and was forced to kill him anyway. I also recommend rewatching the second ending to season 4, I'll add a link. At around 1:16 there are pictures of the Todoroki family and a young Hawks, who is blindfolded and training his feathers with Commission agents. There is also the burnt edge of a photo, which is another piece of Toya foreshadowing :) Season 4 Ending 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ei0LbNH02-Y
