Hello !

I was in such a bad mood before this episode, in hungover with the actual context which is making me despair about the state of the world. So I began this episode telling you I would have no patience with people and could insult people in one second. Turned out that this episode was entertaining and with a frenzied rhythm, so it helped a lot. Turned out also that we're not gonna have one episode for each Hashiras' training, here we had three of them.

We had Kanroji who made me hungrier and taught Tanjiro that flexibility is important (and I can not agree more, to be in good health and to get better in the sport you practice). We had Iguro who is clearly not a good teacher but with whom Tanjiro learnt how to be really precise and to avoid obstacles in combat. We had Sanemi who was more training himself than training his students and a frustrating teaser of his story with Genya. And we had the introduction of Himejima.

I'm still french, so I'm still sorry if my english hurts you.

You're totally right for Sanemi and Genya ! During the episode, I was confused about what I remembered for real and what was just an impression I had on both of them. For Sanemi's training, yup, it could have been an interesting one : for me, it was more about learning how to attack as a group, to organize forces, but it can be also about not giving up yes. I really felt that moment in this episode being like a teaser of a next narrative arc.

In Genya's flashback during the Swordsmith Arc, he mentioned that Sanemi wanted him to leave the Demon Slayers Corps but did not elaborate about it. He also mentioned that he wanted to become a Hashira so he can talk to Sanemi and apologize to him because he blamed Sanemi for killing their mom when she turned into a demon. I think that Genya assumes that Sanemi hates him and wants him gone because he blamed Sanemi for killing their mom. We don't know what Sanemi feels though and why he's behaving this way to Genya. My guess is that he does not want Genya to turn into a demon, because then he'll have to kill another family member. Because Genya can't do breathing techniques, he's probably scared that his brother can be captured and turned into a demon, which he will then need to kill. And because he's promised to kill all demons, that will include his brother if it comes to it, and he wouldn't want to kill him. But that's just my guess. I think Sanemi's training is actually really important. From my perspective, he's teaching the Demon Slayers to not give up even if they're fighting impossible odds. Sanemi did not give them breaks, because there are no breaks when you're fighting demons. He showed them no mercy, because demons will show no mercy. He beat them really hard, because demons will do worse. So for me, it was really more about endurance training and fighting through the pain. Really curious how this season will end.
