I think my first reaction at the end of this movie is really saying all : I laughed and said "what the fu** did I just watch ?" Because this movie is a mix of a lot of different types of movies : it's a puzzle movie but the one who doesn't want to be like that, so it's complexing everything by not explaining anything ; it's a "time travel" movie but the one where it's boring guys in suits who are creating it and are using it for themselves ; it's filmed like an independent movie, with the kind of rhythm that all movies beginning of 2000 had for the writing part… It's a mess, but the good kind.
And it feels weird for me to appreciate a movie which doesn't care about its characters. Like, for real. We spend the first 20 minutes without even knowing their names, we finish the movie without knowing who they truly are, their background, but also what are their true thoughts, dreams. They could have been totally different people, it's not important. I never connected with them or cared for them, but it's okay, because I "connected" with the story, I played the game of trying to understand things. Not sure I did, but it's cool, it means I can rewatch it again.

You don't need a big budget when you have good ideas and you know how to make things right. Clearly, the movie is cool and doesn't need to go more in the character development, but, for me, for my taste, you know that I would have appreciated it, not for the story, but to have felt more things for the characters. And yes, it's that kind of movies you want to rewatch to understand it more !

2024-06-02 09:22:42 +0000 UTCApparently the movie was made on a budget of $7,000 with a crew of 5 people while making like $800,000 worldwide. I ended up having to watch 3 explanation videos just to wrap my head around it all. I also agree it could have used more character development to make the audience care more about what's happening, but the time travel issues are so realistic I ended up not caring!
