Hello !
I really thought the League of Villains was working with, and in fact more "for" the Meta Liberation Army. So, when we had the beginning of this memory, this fight against the two groups, I thought Re-Destro won it for sure, and that's why this alliance ended like that. I'm surprised, and in a real good way, that it's in fact Shigaraki who totally destroyed Re-Destro. And all by himself, without even the help of Machia.
For me, it's something amazing for his character. He proved to Machia, so to all of the Master's allies, that he can be a good successor for him. He proved to Re-Destro, so to all of the other Villains of this universe, that he can be a good leader for all of them. And he proved to me, so I guess to all viewers, that he became that big Villain, big final boss, that Dekku is gonna have to win against at some point. It confirmed one theory I had about this anime : it's not just the story of how Dekku became the best hero of all time, it's also the story of how Shigaraki became the best/worst villain of all time.
