This episode was so nice ! I was clearly wrong about why Tomioka didn't stay with the Hashiras with that theory about him already having the mark. The fact that, during all of this time, he believed that he didn't deserve this place as a Hashira because he never truly passed this exam, he didn't kill any demon during it, and it's Sabito who was the one who saved and protected him, who would have deserved it… After that, he fought and trained hard, but with that idea in mind, he could never reach Sabito's level. In fact, he would always consider that he was not enough.
The parallel between how Tanjiro felt when Rengoku died and how Tomioka felt all of this time was really good. And I love Tanjiro so much for how much he tried, again and again, to talk with Tomioka. It just proves, once again, that he's the kindest person ever. It makes me laugh so much to see him insisting, with that big sweet smile !

Yeap, Tomioka is the proof you can never know what is happening in someone's mind, and you should never judge someone without knowing it. I directly had on mind the two options "family" or "Rengoku", because I know how impactful it was for Tanjiro to see someone that great dying in front of him, but still, it hurt. We'll see for Shinobu, but for now I stay with my theory (maybe because it's one of my wishes for all of them, to accomplish themselves as Hashiras at some point 😊).

2024-05-22 07:38:21 +0000 UTCI never would have guessed that impostor syndrome was why Tomioka was so detached to everything. You wouldn't think that a Hashira would have self-esteem issues. I feel bad that Giyu isolated himself from everyone because he never felt worthy. And because he isolated himself, he never properly communicated this issue to anyone, leading the people around him to think that he was arrogant and full of himself. That makes me feel all kinds of bad. I also initially thought Tanjiro was thinking about his family. But when he said that what made it worse was that they died protecting you, I was confused because I didn't understand how his family was protecting him when they died. So being reminded of Rengoku here and him realizing that parallel he had with Giyu was really nice. You know, I never would have thought that Tanjiro could be even more annoying than Zenitsu. hahahaha I understood what he was doing, but damn, being hounded like that when all you want is to be left alone has got to have been super annoying for Tomioka. At least I know i would been really annoyed. I loved the little cute animations like Giyu's face when he was challenged to a soba eating contest, or when Tanjiro let himself into Giyu's house and Giyu was just like "why is he here?" My best guess on why Kanao was blushing when talking to Shinobu was because she was probably still not used to speaking directly to people, especially her master, so she felt a little shy to admit to Shinobu that she wanted more training under her. I wouldn't read into it too deeply. This episode was really nice. I'm looking forward to what Shinobu has to say in the next episode.
