Hello !
The first episode was here to present all of the characters and the context of the murder of Laura Palmer. But this second episode was here to amplify the mysteries in that little town, the fact that all characters are keeping a secret, and to understand that maybe Laura knew a lot of them because she was in fact connected to all of them. We knew she was helping Johnny, Audrey's brother, but we learnt that she was also giving lessons to Josie and that she even said something to her, about the pain when you lost someone you loved. Maybe it was when Laura began to take drugs ?
No matter what, these two connections are already connecting Laura to the businesses and secrets going at the hotel, at the mill. I'm beginning to think that maybe she knew one big bad secret and she was killed for that ? But it wouldn't explain the "serial killer" situation, the letter found under her nail. She was also helping Norma with that program, she was making intimate tapes to her psychiatrist on which she was treating James as a dumb guy… Weird, really weird. Like the new little weird things we had, like the log lady. I want her to be an easter egg to find in all episodes for the rest of the show now !
