EXTENDED REACTION PART +31MIN, ONE MONTH OF ADVANCE, ONE VIDEO, NO ADS

Hello !

This movie is really a good representation of the expression "bittersweet". We're following Otto who lost his wife and interest in life, we are seeing him trying to kill himself on multiple occasions. It's sad, it's rough, but we are also seeing life continuing to knock at his door, with neighbors who need help. It's sad and sweet at the same time, and the movie explores a lot of subjects : how to live after losing someone you loved and was all of your life ; people who think they are all alone when in fact, they always count for someone and if they are opening themselves a little, they're gonna build for themselves a new family, place to be loved etc.

The movie is talking about these deep subjects by mixing jokes and sad moments, but also by building really well the secondary characters. All can seem cliches because they represent a certain role, but they are so well written that they are counting for Otto, his evolution but also for themselves, their own evolutions. The cast is good, the picture is good, subjects of the movie and ideas behind the camera are good, with these memories bringing us back to the good times and the end showing us Otto had new good memories with this new family.

I'm still french, so I'm still sorry if my english hurts you.

"A MAN CALLED OTTO" EXTENDED REACTION

Comments

I've heard a little about it when it was out (and also a little about the show you mention here !), but I'm glad I watched it with you guys. It was emotional, but the good kind, the bittersweet one 😊

Yeah, this one was a really emotional one. Every time i mention this movie to people, they always tell me they heard about it when it was out. That's a surprise to me since I've heard nothing about it until I watched it myself. if you're looking for a show with a similar vibe, try watching After Life on Netflix. It's about a man who loses his wife and tries to figure out what the point of living is without her. It's written and starred by Ricky Gervais though. So if you don't like him or his sense of humor, you might not enjoy it. Three seasons, six episodes each, 20-30mins for each episode.
