Hello !
I didn't expect at all that Ragnar would get killed during this episode and even less that Askelaad would do it. I understand his logic because I told you a lot about that rule in stories : the mentor has to die/disappear at some point for the hero to shine on his/her own. But here, we learnt just some seconds before that Ragnar was not just that annoying person complaining too much, that he was truly Canute's protector and mentor for a long time. So it felt like I didn't have the time to appreciate him for who he truly is.
And we discovered also that the King planned for his son Canute to be dead already, that he's counting on it to put his other son on the throne. Meaning that I need to rewatch that episode when Canute was left to lead the army : I interpreted Ragnar's attitude like he was mad or jealous, when in fact he understood during that moment the King's plan to sacrifice that son (and him by the same occasion). Meaning also that Askelaad is stuck : if he would bring back Canute to his dad, he's not gonna get his favors ; if he would kill him, he's gonna be considered as an enemy. What can he do ?
