The memory they put into this episode with Endeavor "training" Todoroki when he was a kid, made me worried for some seconds of the message the writers would send. We know Endeavor is changing but I keep repeating it : to build a real relationship with his son, it's gonna take apologies, actions to show he really changed and no matter what, time. Here, Todoroki called that memory not to have his father pushing him to do his best, but to understand he's not that little kid, weak and afraid that he was before.
And that's why after that, he saw that moment with Deku and the speech he made to him. I preferred that message more than the toxic one that it could have been, with these toxic parents saying that they hurt you that much to make you stronger and then took all of your success for the proof they were right. Iida chose to save Todoroki more than to fight the enemy, that was so cool.
