That quirk of moving in shadows and moving shadows is something working so well with Tokoyami. But when that student took control of Dark Shadow and we had him calling for help, I felt his pain. I think that for a long time I considered the relationship between Tokoyami and his Dark Shadow as the one between people and their daemons in His Dark Materials. They are two entities but they are connected, they are a part of the other one.
It was cool to discover the time that Tokoyami spent with Hawks. At first he was really disappointed by his experience because he was only following the guy (and I'm not sure I can appreciate a boss taking sidekicks only for doing the paperwork and an intern only to follow him like a sheep…). To know Hawks took him only to have informations about the League of Villains attacking UA is not helping either. But I believe that he saw the potential in Tokoyami and wanted to help him. And clearly, teaching him how to fly, it was amazing.
