Hello !

Already shocked me the first time, made me mad again with this show : a military as**ole just decided to kill the moon ! And, "thanks" to that, to destroy an entire civilisation ! It's awful, just the idea of it makes me so mad and sad. So for sure, I knew that seeing Yue sacrificing herself after that would destroy me. I had the impression the writers didn't talk enough here about the fact that the moon gave her back her life, it created a connection between them, and there was that big thing for her of thanking the moon, saving her people because it's her responsibility as their leader, she accepted that role also.

Aang giving himself to the ocean spirit and its anger, destroying everything, I hated it. Maybe some people were glad he could fight the enemy here, but this entire season showed that things are not so easy, that Ozai is a dictator, that people like Iroh and Zuko can show compassion and not be okay with the situation. It was even more painful to see the nice and pure Aang like that… But this first season was to show his friends are gonna save him, in many ways.

I'm still french, so I'm still sorry if my english hurts you.

Oooh, that's cool ! That this show gave you an occasion to discover this universe and these characters, like that you spent a good time with me and these videos 😊 For sure, I'll recommend you to watch the original show because it's not "just" an animated show : you can watch it as a kid, you're gonna appreciate it ; but as an adult, you'll see all of the layers and they are so deep, so great.

Hello Laura. I have to admit that I didn't see the original show but I enjoyed watching this show with you very much.

About Katara/waterbending : I think she was called a Master but she's not considered as one yet, that she was more recognized as someone who knows a lot but not someone who knows everything. But you're saying something true with the fact that Aang didn't even try to waterbend during this season, which is gonna make it more difficult for the writers to justify his progress during the season 2. About Zuko/Iroh/Ozai : I think that by bringing memories so early, they tried to show us more of each relationship. So we had less of Zuko being a blind teenager just acting for himself, and him being closer to Iroh already. Same for Ozai, by having him and memories with Zuko so quick, the writers might want to represent their relationship more as a toxic abusive parental one. About season 2 : I understand the issue you mention about Wan Shi Tong and for me, the full desert journey is gonna be erased and that's why we had him here (and that's why I was so disappointed to see him appear like that). I think they have now a big decision to make but which is gonna depend a lot on how much they want to involve in the show, financially speaking. If the show worked "more than ok" for them, they might prepare a season 2 which is gonna mix things from og season 1 and 2 and a season 3 which can be the end of season 2. If the show worked "just fine", that's it, nothing from season 1 to expect in season 2 and same way of build things, mixing stories from og season 2.

For this specific episode, I didn't like that Katara was considered as a "master" already. I find it weird for her to be at a "master" level now without any form of training. Yes, she worked hard on her self-study, and yes, she was able to show Pakku that she was as strong or even stronger than some of the other waterbenders, but is that really enough to consider her as a master? In my opinion, no. I just feel like being a master means more than just being really good. Overall though, I enjoyed the series and am hoping they get a season 2. I'm very appreciative of the more realistic human interactions and reactions. I especially love how this version of Zuko really appreciates Uncle Iroh more. Like, in the original, you know that Zuko does care about Uncle Iroh, but in this version, he's able to show it more, which I really enjoyed. About Ozai, I think that this version of him actually cares about Zuko but in a very messed up way. He's still definitely a manipulative asshole, but I think he cares more about Zuko than in the original series. I think he cares about Zuko only to pit him against Azula and make them compete against each other. But I don't think Ozai fully supports Azula (because we can see him heavily manipulate her as well). I think what he's doing is that he's making his children compete against each other so that whichever one is the strongest will be his true heir. This version of Ozai gives me a very "survival of the fittest" vibe. But that's why I assume that Ozai still thinks Zuko can succeed him, because he still sees potential in Zuko to beat Azula. I really liked how they portrayed Ozai here. They still showed that he's a horrible person, but I think they were able to highlight his being a horrible father more than the original did. I am worried about season 2 though. I dont know how much they're going to change to be able to fit what they did in season 1. For example, Aang has not even tried to waterbend this entire season. Are they just going to train him offscreen? Is that what the next season is going to be about? Also, they've changed the rules for the avatar state. How is that going to affect the series as a whole? And while we've seen Wan Shi Tong already, we neither saw nor heard about his library (where Zhao should have gotten the info on the spirits). So does that mean that the whole library, and possibly the whole desert, is going to be cut? Despite me being worried, I am also a little excited to see these changes. I'm just really hoping it would pay off.
