Hello !

"I can not lie : even if that thing about mixing so many stories together is bothering me a little, clearly the show works on me, I cry in EACH FU**ING EPISODE." The mood at the end was huge, as you can see. Like I needed sugar and chocolate before and after because this show is taking all of my energy… I'm so glad to have everything, they're doing it well, but I would want more of each and I know they can't, they don't have the time for that. But they know how to play with my emotions !

I had to ask myself the question : Iroh mourning his son, was it more or less difficult than Zuko fighting here with his father during an Agni Kai because he showed compassion ? So the guy burnt his face and banished him. And let's not talk about these soldiers learning he saved their lives and because of that they salute him. YES I CRIED. They represent the new viewers in fact : not knowing Zuko, they might have judged him hard but knowing where he's coming from, you'll learn to love him and see his evolution.

I'm still french, so I'm still sorry if my english hurts you.

Comments

Never be sorry to write long comments ! Yes, the scene between Zuko and his soldiers was amazing. This show tries to be more realistic not only with how it's filmed, but also with how it's written, and it's really a good choice.

I hope you didn't forget to hydrate :))) It was a nice touch having his crew be the soldiers he saved. I really liked that. I'm so far still glad that things aren't exactly the same as the original. They're trying to tell a different story but using familiar parts, and I'm okay with that. I don't know if I'm alone in this, but I think one of the things I appreciate the most is how less cartoony and more human the characters feel. I mentioned before how Zuko felt more like an actual teenager. Well in this episode, you see that Ozai is, in my opinion, more realistically evil than in the original cartoon. In the original, I always felt like Ozai was an asshole and he knew it. He definitely hated his son and wanted nothing to do with him; throwing him away the first reasonable chance he gets. But in this version, I feel like Ozai knows he's tough, but also really thinks that he's doing the right thing by his family. Obviously, as the viewers, we know what he's doing is wrong, but he cannot see that through his narcissism. Which I feel is very reflective of how narcissism works in the real world. The same can be said for the portrayal of Zuko. He had a conversation with Aang because the actual good person that he is was still in there and surfaced, but Aang triggered his PTSD by talking about compassion, and all hell broke loose. Some people may not like these changes because they're not exactly what happened in the original, but I like them because they make the characters feel more real to me. Sorry, that was really long. lol.
