Thorfinn's final line made me wonder about how he's evolving : he's asking the question about how people can enjoy to fight, but himself, he wants to be a soldier since he's a kid, he's been fighting since a long time and he's good at it, he wants to kill people. He doesn't like it, but we can see it feels like being powerful for him. So did he change his mind and he doesn't want to be a soldier anymore ? Or is he beginning to be conflicted about his love for the fights ?
Thorfinn felt weak at the end of his fight against Thorkell because he didn't succeed and maybe he added him to the list of people he has to kill. But I'm taking a different message from that moment : Thorkell didn't react like everyone seeing that kid on the battlefield, he recognized this look immediately. And then, he saw that Thorfinn was already a real warrior.

Another fun episode, that introduces Thorkell. He's a pretty entertaining character. About your comment on Last Kingdom and the political developments: I don't think this story is taking place at the same time period as that show. Last Kingdom is roughly around year 900. Vinland is around year 1000. Different characters and different events. If I were to rank the shows by historical accuracy, I would probably go: Vinland Saga > Last Kingdom > Vikings. About Thorfinn's comment on not enjoying battle: I don't think Thorfinn has ever enjoyed fighting. He thought it would be fun before he left Iceland, but ever since his father died, he felt nothing but the desire for revenge. For him, fighting is a tool to get his revenge and nothing else.
