I was sad and disappointed by McNulty at the end of this episode : I thought he changed during the previous season but in fact no, he was just not tempted. And now, back with his team, he just went back to who he was, that pitiful drunk guy. And we can make the parallel with Bubbs : Bubbs truly changed, he's tempted all day, he's not considered at all, he has a poor job, his family is not treating him that well, he's seeing his old drugged friends, but he's not that guy anymore. Him, he changed because he wanted to.

The budget situation is putting everyone in a bad position and with the major crimes unit which hasn't made any progress on the Marlo's case since so long, it's almost logical to close them. Like here, they didn't even notice that Marlo was going to a motel full of other drug bosses ! It took only one night to Omar… Daniels did his best to save them, asking Tommy's help. I'm not surprised he didn't respect his promises. It's the political game.
