As for this page, in the background in the sky, you can see streaks flying. They're supposed to be satellites. Not just for processing information, like our current day satellites, but to also stream more direct solar energy and monitor space travel.
On the first page, one of these satellites if very prominent. It's actually a space station hub for ships going to and fro.
