This is the third WIP post of Titanic Love, an animation commission! These posts are aimed to give you insight into my workflow and show you my creative process. Below is a segmented list with images and GIFs of everything I accomplished this week.
Animation Preview
Below is the current preview for the first shot of the animation. As always, you can find the full resolution preview in the post attachments! The current work time is roughly 14 hours.
Environment
I finally have gone on an fixed all of the issues with the animation and interaction between Legacy and Vulpes, so it was time to go on and finish up the environment. One of the biggest challenges was making sure Blender didn't absolutely crap itself. Because of the massive amounts of instances in the scene, I used a method called "frustum culling" to remove objects that weren't in the camera's view.
The best example of that is here. The yellow highlighted object is the camera and its frustum.
Lighting
Here's a quick look at the scene so far.

The lighting currently isn't finished just yet as there are a few adjustments I want to make, but nonetheless I'm very happy with how it looks. I'm currently using a combination of two area lights and a procedural HDRI to illuminate the scene. The haze you're seeing is done through a massive volumetric box with an EXTREMELY low density.
