This is it, this was the end of Attack On Titan. To have Eren explaining all of his plan of destroying the Power of the Titans and erasing 80% of the population outside of the walls so the amount of people in and out, and their strengths, can be heaven⦠I understand the logic, I hate the logic. I see the suicidal thing, I hate the martyre role some can give him. I don't know if another solution was possible, but like I hated Zeke's offer, I hate Eren's choice.
Our guys survived and are gonna be the next heroes, explaining all of what happened so the conflict is gonna stop. After a long time, years, and it hurts to see it. And peace is not gonna last forever, and the ending scene was about that. It was so cool to see our guys visiting Eren's grave with their families, meaning that they had an happy life, but it's normal to see that the place is gonna change with time and new wars are gonna come. Yes, Humanity repeats its mistakes at some point. But this anime, all of our guys, proved that it deserves to be saved again, to live again.
With these three final chapters, they closed all of the narrative arcs, the two big relationships of Eren with Mikasa and Armin, and they explored really their big subjects with Freedom, Revenge and Humanity. But I would have loved to have at least a picture of our guys' futures and this end offered by Eren's choices feels⦠logical but acid, it's a good end for our characters so it's sweet, but still sad. I'm proud of all of them, but also so melancholic. One day, I'll rewatch this anime, but first, I need time to mourn, and to heal.

Haha, I was thinking the same, about all of these Titans who are still alive somewhere and are gonna turn back humans. It's Connie's line about his mom which was made for that, to realize that.

2023-11-09 08:54:24 +0000 UTCWas rewatching the ending and realized two things: 1) I think that image of King Fritz with a spear through his chest is the future that Ymir wishes she had, which is heartbreaking. 2) Someone's going to have to explain the last few hundred years to all of those wall titans who must have turned back into humans. That will be awkward.

A few fans can hate the ending, I think that the majority of the fans understand it because this ending is the perfect response to the entire anime, to everything which was discussed, to all conversations explored. Yes humanity, at some point, will repeat the same mistakes and be at war again. At least, without Titans. But with the nuclear bomb for some, so... And it's making me really happy that the end of the manga implies that Jean and Mikasa are together at the end. It seems so right, only him can understand her that much and like Ferdinand said in another comment, can accept her love for Eren, until the end, in her grave.

I was a fan of the manga too, and I know there is a loud group online who hate its ending and hopes the anime would end differently. I was happy to see that by and large the ending was the same, which I loved. As for your question, I think it is implied in the end of the manga that Jean and Mikasa start a family and visit Erenβs grave together with their child.

2023-11-07 00:20:51 +0000 UTCThis final was amazing. And yes, you're right, their interpretations were so perfect during this moment. But you're killing me by suggesting Marco could have been here... To have Bertholdt was already so much for me, so to imagine now Marco being next to Sasha... I can cry again. Yes, we had a lot of things during the chapter 3 about the duos, Annie with Mikasa, Reiner with Jean, the fact that they are now fighting together, they care about each other... Eren's confession during that moment was pathetic, but human. And after all of what we saw of Eren since seasons, it felt nice to remember he was human. I love that you imagine Jean with Mikasa at the end... Yes, maybe it demands a lot to accept that your lover had already one big love in her life and wants to be buried with the sign of their love... I loved a lot also to see during the editing that Grandpa Armin was visiting the graves of his two old friends...

2023-11-06 11:40:36 +0000 UTCMan, what a wild ride. There's so much to say about the finale, I don't even know where to start. I'm happy with how things turned out. Primarily because none of our guys died, which was a really big but not unwelcome surprise to me. I think my favorite parts were just the cries of desperation and anguish throughout the finale. Like when Annie was holding back the worm, or when Armin saw Eren's head. Those were beautifully animated and voiced. Broke my freaking heart. But not as bad as whenever the scout ghosts keep showing up. Damn. At least they didn't show Marco this time. They really went all out though on the emotional moments. I think my favorite positive ones were 1) when Jean didn't want to let go of Reiner and said something like, "we don't give up because we are scouts," or something like that, implying that he accepted Reiner as a comrade and scout again, and 2) when Eren confessed to Armin that he wanted Mikasa to not move on from her love for him for at least 10 years. These were really nice moments that brought some humanity into the context. I could sit here and just talk about all of the awesome scenes, but I think I've done that too much already. hahaha Last thought though, part of me is assuming that the man Mikasa ended up finding in the end was probably Jean. I mean, I think it will only be Jean that will understand Mikasa and Eren's relationship and be okay with visiting Eren's grave or her keeping his scarf all those years, right?

2023-11-06 10:36:43 +0000 UTCWatch at least the end of my intro of the chapter 3, I'm like "okay okay, I'm emotional and melancholic, but in fact I'm more excited than anything", and then, when I was about to press play, something happened, and tears came in one second π π Clearly, I was more emotional than I thought before, but I knew I would be during the entire part 2. 1h25 of tears.
