The Lab - Page 1 (High Resolution)

Page 1 of a brand new short comic I'm creating with the gracious help of Odddice! The text accompanying each image can be found below:

A crackle of iridescent cobalt energy in the otherwise empty void of space. It was here. Exactly at the coordinates specified. Well, that was one less 'detour' she would have to make in the future at least... Still, this was promising. She floated forward, her massive scale still infinitesimal against the vastness of the universe. Holding her hand up and forward, the fur on her arm stood on end as a portal tore open the fabric of spacetime while it bubbled to life. From there, it was a simple matter for the Lydian to slowly glide forward into the swirling vortex, eager to see what was on the other side.

The other side of the portal opened up in the atmosphere of a long dead world. The heavens above filled with destroyed husks of a once proud civilization, at least the ones that hadn't been pulled down by the planet's gravitational field already. On the surface were many scattered cities, overgrown with flora, completely abandoned with all signs of sentient life wiped off the face of the planet, leaving it eerily quiet and still.

The wind began to whip up as the portal opened and widened, larger and larger it spread out to allow for it's tremendous cargo to be passed through to the world beyond. It started with her fingers, crackling blue lightning arcing off of them as they emerged into the light. A shadow passed over the ground darkening the forests below before crashing down with a massive impact. The sound of splintering wood could be heard for miles as the trees stood no chance at stopping even a single digit from the gigantic Lydian. Even more powerful was the quake that resulted as her palm crashed down to the forest floor, flattening what remained of the trees and kicking up plumes of dust at least 50 feet high, and that was before the devastation caused as she slowly pulled the rest of her body through the portal and into the new world.

A quick stretch in the new gravity of the planet let her appreciate being out of the cold void of space for a change. It felt like forever since the last time she really got to unwind and have some fun. Though looking around and only seeing trees and forests for miles didn't really give her too much to scratch that 'itch' she was feeling. She was just about to start walking when the sun glinted off something by her paw and she suddenly became quite happy she hadn't been careless coming out of the portal... well... more careless than she had been. There was a small tower down there... and she immediately began to scale herself down to investigate it. Approaching closer at a smaller size, trees still crumpled under her, but at least she could see the structure a little better, and wasn't about to smash it with a toe. She crouched down to get an even closer look, which would have given an amazing view to anyone on the ground if there was any life down there to enjoy it. The technology of the building was... ancient... but familiar too... She was getting excited now, this adventure could turn out to be very fun.
