Classic Route | Night III Complete

Classic Route Night III is now complete. Additionally, I've updated the Shadewalker Edition with last month's Dark Maiden content update. Enjoy!

I know this is a longer than usual delay between updates and I apologize. I should have made a post on Patreon regarding the censorship issue. By the time I got around to drafting one the policy had changed once more and frankly I was quite overwhelmed. I was concerned I'd make a change or commit to something before the dust had a chance to settle. I'm still concerned about that frankly, but the story must continue. I do appreciate you guys reaching out and I apologize for not responding to everyone individually.

The Itch NSFW Fiasco

For those of you out of the loop, last month Itch made the decision to censor games with adult content due to pressure from payment processors. Steam did the same, I'm told. This was a nightmare, as nearly all of Bride of Shadow's traffic comes from being indexed on Itch. At the end of July, they started re-indexing un-monetized NSFW games. As of right now, Bride of Shadows (public) is still in the shadow realm but I'm optimistic. I've removed the option for players on Itch to make donations and I'm making the public build clean. My hope is that between de-monetizing it on Itch and removing the explicit content Bride of Shadows will be back in the search algorithm some time this month, perhaps even being tried by players who were previously iffy about playing a game with sex. A girl can dream.

Right now, this has no impact on the Patreon versions. They're all hidden from search engines by default. Rest assured, I will continue to serve up smut in the Darksinger and Shadewalker builds. I've also looked into alternative hosting platforms, should Itch opt out of hosting all NSFW in the future. I am beyond grateful for all of your suggestions and advice, it gave me a lot of comfort during some stressful days and I've taken plenty of notes.

Classic Night III

This update draws Night III to a close. Serax set up some dominos during the moonday and now Valdricht is swooping in to knock them over. For readers who played the original version, you'll notice some familiar interactions, albeit presented earlier in the narrative.

I chose not to lock any of the dynamic choices, meaning that even if you're quite high on the Anointed or Combustive ends of the spectrum, you'll have full access to choosing Devotee or Kindling. I think this freedom makes a lot more sense during the prelude, particularly if you're the type who likes to go back and explore alternate options. Just remember to go with the responses that feel natural for your MC, so she doesn't come across as neurotic, behaving warily in one moment and overeager in the next.

I haven't been idle these past couple weeks, but rather opted to jump ahead while I debated what to do with a specific branch in this episode. I'll talk about it in the next post. Night IV of Classic is nearly finished, I just need to write the sexual content. The remainder of Fated Mates Night III will be out this week and then Night IV of Classic will be out next week.
