Noctis Umbra Remake Poll!
Added 2019-07-14 17:33:47 +0000 UTCI'm almost done with Chapter 4 of Oathbreaker, and I decided to jump right back into Noctis Umbra as soon it's released.
I want to save this universe a lot, so, I'll go all out with everything I've learned so far.
But in order to do everything freely (including adding the M!MC), I decided not to make a remake.
Instead, I'll keep the old one on the website and make completely new Noctis Umbra.
It could be a new season or an alternate story in the same lore/universe. Same good/evil intricacies, but better studied this time.
It's kind of a risk, because it may still not be popular, but at least I'll know I did my best!
First Noctis Umbra was just a one prologue example for me, as I was trying out a new engine / style and testing the waters. I wasn't sure if it was going to work out or not, so I didn't develop it as much as I could.
Oathbreaker was understandably better, as I learned and improved in time.
Now, I want to push it a little further than just "testing".
So, my question is;
What should this Noctis Umbra be?
Same characters and companions but a bit further in the timeline? (About a few years after the last chapter of Noctis Umbra.)
Or an alternate timeline/universe with different companions, MC(s) and story.
(Either way, I'll be remaking all characters and add an optional male MC.)

I don't think the characters in Noctis Umbra are the problem. It's just that the story feels so rushed, you don't get to know any of them. Not well, at least. I know it's already a lot of work to do the art and put it all together, but maybe you need more help writing to space out the narrative? Sorry for commenting on this so late but I'm going back through stuff and forgot for a moment that this was a while back ago.

I always find it appealing when the main cast is not the obvious choice (in this case, the leaders of the revolution, and founders of Noctis Umbra), but a powerful group next to them. It would give you freedom to rework the story and characters to your liking and it also allows for cameos from the previous cast, which is always fun.

2019-07-16 07:51:55 +0000 UTCOOOOOOOH Rin! This is so exciting! I'm really attached to the current characters in NU (esp. Valerius and Tae <3), so I wouldn't want to change them, but I would really love to know more about them than we do, particularly Keelan, Ae-ri, and Tora. I think having the ability to customize the MC more, even more than in OB might give the game a big boost. I personally get more invested in games where I can create a character with different hair and eye color, etc. I remember how much I loved when you added the customization in the 2nd and 3rd chapters of Ascension, but I understand that it will make it harder to make the CG's and character movement animations. Just thinking out loud. Whatever you decide to do, I'm still really excited about this game.

2019-07-15 18:06:05 +0000 UTCI might be one of the few who enjoys NU a bit more than OB, but it just appeals to my general genre more. I want to see that world and lore expand more - it seemed to be starting out on a very βmorally shaded of greyβ grounding and I like that. I still stand by seeing more customization adding investment for more people. I LOVE the idea of having a male MC. Iβll play as much as I can on the main website for ya to show my support ;)

It will be choice heavy and the choices will matter way more than the first version would ever do. Will be more of a VN than an otome, rest assured. :)

2019-07-14 18:02:07 +0000 UTCI think, for me, the lore was interesting and the world itself was really nice but the characters were just flat in comparison. Usually, your games are interesting in lore and the characters keep you coming back because you care about them; there is something about them that makes you want to see the story to the end... I just did not feel that with Noctis Umbra characters. So... long explanation short... I think the characters, should they stay the same or be different, need a little more oomph but the lore and overall story are very interesting.

I was looking forward to the consequences of Mara's decision which side she chose to be on and ofc the development of the impending war btwn nocturnals and diurnals and its conclusion. the in-game politics were the main appeal for me. so does the option of the same characters, but in a further timeline mean events that will happen after the war? same crew just new adventures? this info would help me in my choice.
