June Updates

I’ve been in a bit of a creative and energy slump lately. I think it’s partially due to the constant cloudy weather we’ve had in California. It looks like it’s clearing up though.

I was being hard on myself because I haven’t been as productive content wise as I normally am. I started posting consistently to social media around 2 years ago, and I’ve never really given myself a break. I decided to give myself a little birthday present and allow myself to just chill out, and not put pressure on myself to be productive for a bit. And honestly I feel much better now. I read a lot this past week, watched some movies, went on walks, and spent time with friends. Ruination was the first book I read. It’s a bit of a guilty pleasure lol. It’s a book based on a video game I started playing 10 years ago!!! League of legends… lol. Honestly though, it was so good and I recommend it even if you’re not into League.

The next book I read was The Secret History and I finished it in about 5 days. Normally I have a difficult time reading anything that’s not fantasy, but I really stuck through it and I’m honestly proud of myself lol. I loved it. The characters are morally abhorrent but I found that I fell in love with them. Not because I liked them, but because through the writing I felt like I knew them. Also the way the author describes the environment of the book was truly beautiful If anyone else has read this book I’d love to talk with u about it in the comments!

Also Chris and i are watching Black Mirror right now. We finished Joan is Awful last night and will probably watch 1-2 tonight. I’m kind of scared though bc Black Mirror sometimes makes me feel horrible for a few days lol.

Rest is so necessary! And like deeeeeep rest with lots of space for your body and mind to not feel so reactive. And obviously we support that, so happy you’re taking time for yourself!

Ahaha I reread The Secret History every year-ish (often on audiobook these days). I'm really glad you liked it! It's one of my favorites. Judy Poovy for the win. I'm really glad you're starting to feel better! Don't put too much pressure on yourself. Everyone needs breaks from their jobs. I know creatives tend to feel guilty about it but we need breaks too. Plus you just moved lol. Keep taking care of yourself!

I’m glad you’re feeling better Benji! Taking time for yourself is so important and I’m happy it worked for you. Also I thought I was the only one who felt off after watching black mirror. The icky feeling lingers for no reason! 😭
