Plans for Scale Of Survival V0.37
Added 2025-05-16 08:21:41 +0000 UTCI'd like to be more open about what I'm working on for the game. So here are some ideas I've been thinking about for the next version.
I will first focus on fixing all the remaining bugs. I'd like to finally have a version without bugs haha. Every time I add a new feature, a bunch of new bugs pop up...
In my opinion, it's better to have a short, polished, and actually fun game than one packed with a lot of features that are rushed and unoptimized.
The most important bugs I need to fix are: key bindings, getting the game to actually work with a controller, fixing the broken ragdolls, and improving the janky combat system.
There's a lot to do, but once I fix all that, I think the game will feel way better.
About the next features :
I have a lot of ideas. In my opinion, the first mission/challenge is still not finished. I'm not sure I want to extend the city again since it takes way too much time.
However, 2-3 features still need to be added before I can move on the next mission or game mode.
First, adding a last enemy : Scifi Tank. I'll try to work a bit on how to make it so you can crush it if you're big enough.
Secondly, adding a new mechanism : Karma.
Here's how it works : the problem with the current version is that once you get big enough you can walk on buildings (which is quite hilarious but makes no sense). . So I want to add building destruction, but tie it to a karma system.
Since you're supposed to play a gentle giantess, all cruel actions will be punished. : every time you destroy a building (you can assume they’re empty because most civilians were evacuated or already killed during the robot invasion), the karma bar fills up. Once the karma bar is filled at 100% the nuclear artillery will automatically shoot at you and kills you (you were considered as a cruel gts).
Now onto the third feature that I think could make the game more interesting: scared civilians. Most have been evacuated, but a few are still in the city — scared, and not knowing where to go.
Your goal as a gentle giantess is to guide them out of the city so they can escape by boat.
However, at a certain size, if you're not careful, you might accidentally hurt them. If you hurt them by kicking or with your powers, the Karma bar will also increase.
Killing at least 1 civilian will immediately fills the bar at 100%. (Not a fan of playing as a cruel gts)
So how do you save civilians while being huge? I've tought about using the interact button.
If you're tall enough, you could crouch down and let the tinies climb onto your hand — then carry them out of the city and gently place them somewhere safe so they can escape. While you carry tinies, you can't attack.
It would be funny to have emotes with the civilians, like hugging them, waving at them, or gently kissing them.
The robots also attack civilians, but if they die because of robots, the Karma bar doesn't increase. Instead, you just lose some score. I could even add as a third mission : save at least x percent of civilians.
I think this could make the whole game more interesting since you need to grow big but at the same time being careful about where you step and how you interact with civilians. I'd like to hear your thoughts about this feature.
I'm not a fan of gore so there will be no blood when civilians die.

2025-05-21 05:54:16 +0000 UTCyou're pretty much right... When I tested the last version a lot of things were frustrating because of all the bugs. So yeah, before adding new things, fixing the current game is top priority

2025-05-17 05:42:06 +0000 UTCThe features sound interesting, just make sure it's not super punishing. I'd put a slider on Karma difficulty. I'm mostly excited about a clean release focus. I'll be honest, I won't be getting that last version because you straight up said "Yeah, btw this is a buggy mess." I can't understand the time needed for game dev work but i get it, new stuff is fun and interesting, and bug fixing is boring and frustrating. Sadly, I can't enjoy new features if I can't do basic older stuff consistently. Happy to see you acknowledge that and I look forward to 0.37. It would be cool to see a clean 0.36 release, but either way it'll be fun.

2025-05-17 04:04:25 +0000 UTCI feel like it would be weird to just clip the gts foot with civilians . I've thought about making civilians strong so that even if you're 30 meters tall, if you're not careful you don't instantly kill them but instead step on them , dealing a certain amount of damage. I could also make it this way : when saving civilians, you decrease the "karma" meters such that you can make mistakes without being too much punished. Well it needs some experiments. Instantly killing the gts for stepping on civils is a bit much yeah

2025-05-16 11:06:44 +0000 UTCI understand preferring gentle stuff; but it seems a bit much to just kinda instant kill you because you made a mistake as a rather large (and growing) character. If you're that focused on the character being gentle, why not just make it so you can't actually step on the civilians or something

2025-05-16 10:49:57 +0000 UTCAh sorry no. Again, I'm not a fan of playing as cruel gts.... Besides, they are already a lot of size creators that focus on cruelty

2025-05-16 08:33:01 +0000 UTCWould there be an option to play as a cruel GTS? Without dying instantly? Just curious more than anything.
