SLAM!
He winced at the sudden sound of the door opening and slamming in, but Daniel calmed himself as he watched the police officer walk into the interrogation room.
He shifts his body, feeling very uncomfortable with cuffs on his arms and legs, to face the officer who waved a file in front of his face before throwing it onto the table, the documents inside the file splattering out at the toss.
The officer took a seat opposite him before leaning close.
"So, Daniel "Tennyson" Lee. Race: Chinese-American. Age: 12. Status: Orphan. Quirk: Watch."
He cites the information that he himself created with Azmuth calmly before he suddenly slammed the table, causing it and the contents on the table to rattle around with Daniel surprised by the sudden sound.
"Dude, that scared the crap out of me!"
"That's exactly the point! I have a plethora of questions, but those Heroes at the back of the damn one-way glass are ordering me to ask the elephant in the room."
Taking out a document from the file, he turns it before pushing it to his side of the table. The content was a picture of Heatblast with flames propelling from his hands and feet to soar into the skies.
Another picture slides to him.
A blurry image of Blitzwolfer in the dark prowling through the rooftops.
Another.
Astrodactyl fired a beam of green star power towards an armored car with villains firing bullets at him.
Each picture that slid to his side of the table highlighted the symbol of the Omnitrix. The Omnitrix that's currently on his arm.
"Who and how are you related to the Chimera Organization?"
He couldn't help but laugh nervously at the pictures, especially evidence of the blurry black figure of his usual go-to aliens. How did they even get a picture of XLR8? Shit, they knew about one of his more powerful aliens in his playlist.
"Uh... I plead the fifth?"
"You're not in America."
"I want an attorney?"
"You are entitled one, yes, but this will be a black mark in your record. Vigilantism is a heavy offense; you wouldn't want such records when you enroll in a Hero School, no?"
The soft gaze of begging for more information the officer had when he explained the final sentence caused him to snort.
"Huh, OK then. Too bad I'm not even thinking of going into one! I won't say anything unless my attorney is present then."
What was the point when he could just simply go alien and be a hero at any time? Granted, his current way of living by with livestreams and video revenue is not sustainable in the long run, but he had JuryRigg and more smarter aliens like Brainstorm and Grey Matter down the line to think of something to solve it.
The shit-eating grin on Daniel's face must have caused something as the door to the interrogation room suddenly bursts open with heat suddenly seeping into the room.
Ah. This was kind of bad.
Endeavor stormed into the room with officers verbally begging him not to do anything rash as he powerwalked towards him. You know, now that he's seeing the dude up close while not in any transformations, Endeavor is a surprisingly large dude —
The Omnitrix wielder yelped as the Flame Hero grabbed him by the collar and raised him in the air, his legs struggling in the air as the hero roared, shaking him.
"WHO ARE YOU? WHAT IS YOUR RELATION TO THEM? WHERE ARE THEY LOCATED AT?"
It was a little comical in his head—the giant-sized hero choking out a 12-year-old kid—that would make headlines if the hero in question wasn't such a corrupt bastard that bribes the media.
"I'm Daniel. A suspect. And who are you even talking about, man?"
The wry smile angered the man further as Endeavor shoved him back to his chair. He grunted at the pain on his back, massaging it while the hero growled.
"Don't play with me, child! How are you connected with the Chimera Organization?! You wore a hologram that looked identical to that damn mutt, with technologies that are too advanced for a 12-year-old to own!"
"I told you, I want a lawyer present — "
Endeavor punches the table, his fist splitting the metal in half before he asked again.
"IF ANOTHER SENTENCE THAT DOESN'T ANSWER MY QUESTIONS COMES OUT OF THAT MOUTH, I WILL BURN YOU ALIVE!"
"Hero brutality and threatening me with a fireball to the face? That's an angle to sue you into oblivion right there, Mister Number-Two Hero!"
He emphasized the position that Endeavor was currently in, his snark riling up the flame hero to the point of snapping at the comment as he burst into a bundle of flames and fired towards Daniel, whose eyes immediately widened at the attack.
What kind of fucking hero shoots a damn fireball at a person when he's mad?!
As the fireball draws closer to his face, Daniel raises and crosses both arms to cover his face from getting seared into ashes, the intense heat from the flames boiling his skin.
BUIP!
The plate of the Omnitrix suddenly rose and continuously spun clockwise as an audio of himself with a monotone voice suddenly sounded from the watch.
["Incoming Lethal Damage Detected, Activating Emergency Protocol."]
Green shone in the Omnitrix as the heat suddenly disappeared, his eyes witnessing the fireball brushing against an acid-green barrier in the shape of a sphere before impacting the walls of the interrogation room.
"It has been less than a day; how did you even get yourself in this situation?"
A familiar voice came from his shoulder as Daniel looked to the hologram with a happy grin.
"Azmuth! Buddy, I missed your and your mocking!"
His eyes noticed that the room was suddenly populated with heroes and police officers alike with their "weapons" out pointing towards him. They were moving their mouths, but he couldn't hear anything at all from outside the barrier.
Oh, hey! And his cuffs were broken too! His limbs are free!
"Not the time to dandle around; transform! The barrier only lasts for a few seconds!"
"Don't need to tell me twice! It's time to GO ALIEN!"
The core of the Omnitrix stopped rotating the moment Azmuth advised him to go alien, the interface of the watch returning to its usual diamond shape format with the silhouette of the selected alien whenever its plate rose.
Slamming the core back down into its base, the familiar feeling of transforming into an alien returned as a blast of bright green light illuminated the room, blinding the men.
The heroes, especially Endeavor, adjusted quickly to the sudden light and reacted by instinct, retaliating to the "attack" with their respective Quirks.
By the time their vision recovered, all that was left on the other side of the room were two pairs of broken cuffs on the ground, along with the damage caused by their Quirks.
The heroes and policemen who knew Endeavor's temper quickly moved out of the way, pulling their unsuspected colleagues out of the room as Endeavor stood still, his eyes looking at the previous spot Daniel was at.
"FUUUUUUUUUUUUCKKKKKKKKKKKKK—!"

Once he was certain that he was out of the vicinity of the heroes and police, he sighed in a raspy tone of relief as he continued phasing through walls and objects.
"You know, I never really appreciated having Ghostfreak on the playlist until now. Maybe I should use him and the others in the backburner more than my usual five."
Hearing the familiar deactivation jingle, Daniel made sure that he wasn't in the middle of phasing, floating to an alleyway before bright red illuminated the area, now back in human form.
"You can use it again to retrieve or destroy all the evidence you left behind."
That included his weapons, utility belt, and hoodie. Dart, he'd have to remake most of the broken tools, especially that hoodie of his. His cover is blown, so he'd have to remake and upgrade his only means of disguise.
"Speaking of which, not cool disabling the Omnitrix!"
The Galvan had the audacity to roll his eyes after manifesting on his shoulder!
"But it made you heroic for once. Even without the watch, you are a hero at heart; that is something that I can respect."
Oh.
His face heated up at the sudden praise by Azmuth; that was not something that he expected at all. Heck, this was the first time he heard Azmuth say something positive about his actions.
"Praise isn't going to get you anywhere, mister! I want an answer!"
"It's nothing, really. Just simple changes to the Omnitrix, that's all."
That nonchalant tone of Azmuth perked his interest as his eyes darted to the watch. Huh, the hourglass on the Omnitrix's plate was pulsing neon-green instead of its usual acid-green hue once it was fully charged.
"Changes?"
"That's for you to find out, and me to dot, dot, dot."
Pushing the activation buttons to raise the core of the Omnitrix, Daniel started twisting the dial of the watch as the silhouette of the aliens in the diamond switched per rotation of the dial.
"... Azmuth, are you sure the Omnitrix changed? There's no new alien!"
"There can be changes to the watch other than unlocking new alien samples, you fool."
And with that said, the hologram of Azmuth faded back to the Omnitrix as Daniel transformed into XLR8, the speed demon of an alien speeding at high speeds back to their safe house.
