RWBY: Just a Gamer Grinding Away

"There once was a ship that put to sea,
The name of the ship was the Billy O' Tea!
The winds blew up, her bow dipped down,
Oh blow, my bully boys, blow! ~♫"
I sang loudly as the boat continued to rock around the surface of the water, carving away on a small piece of wood.
It's been... A tough few days of travel. The boat, from what the Observe skill told him, was that it had the max speed of 15 knots. And so I've been pushing the boat's enchantment to go as fast as it could.
It's been fucking 2 days, and it was still far away from land. Good thing I packed enough food for two week thanks to Inventory's feature to stop time completely, because I think there's still another few days before I can touch land.
Sitting on Going Creation was a nightmare, not the boat itself but the experience. I could never hate Going Creation.
Anyways, I couldn't farm levels with the amount of Grimm being present for me to kill, grinding my Aura would mean a death wish since the sea is filled with so many Grimm, and worse of all I hate the smell of the sea!
"Soon may the Wellerman come!
To bring us sugar and tea and rum!
One day, when the tonguing is done,
We'll take our leave and go! ~♫"
Next time I go out on another boat trip, note to self: "Bring stuff to entertain yourself, and fresh pairs of clothes". His white t-shirt and jeans were now drenched and smelled like someone just dumped a shit-ton of salt onto it.
Well, at least I entertained myself with creating more tools.
So far, I've created a wooden pickaxe, a shovel, and now a small knife.
I even made some string! Using bark fibres, I wrapped them around to create something called a cordage from what the Game recognized using Observe, it took a few tries, but eventually I had a bundle of string with 40 durability. That is strong enough to be stretched with my full strength, with it only taking 6 durability off per hard pull, so they were durable enough for me to make slings for my weapon sheaths.
I was thinking of making more throwing knifes, I needed some kind of long-range option, and my STR should be enough to make throwing knifes soar and hurt like bullets.
Right now, I've made only 3 of the knives, and they were all common grades, unfortunately since I didn't put much effort other than making them sharp and easy to hold, without thinking of their durability.
... No, actually it's fortunate now that I thought about it. If they were either uncommon or rare then I'd have a rough time during combat, thinking of not wasting them when I need to. Man, I am a genius sometimes.
"She'd not been two weeks from shore,
When down on her a right whale bore,
The captain called all hands and swore,
He'd take that whale in tow!
Soon may the Wellerman come!
To bring us sugar and tea and rum!
One day, when the tonguing is done,
We'll take our — Eh, it should be sharp enough at this point."
Using Observe on it just in case, I tossed it into my Inventory before taking out another piece of wood that I've chopped previously. Looking at the distance, I sighed at the gap between him and the white snowy landscape before continuing my work.

"Holy SHIT."
I whispered in awe as I stared at the island in the sky. I've only watched RWBY up to Volume 3 and a little bit of Volume 4, so I heard about this island. The Island of Atlas, a floating island.
Didn't expect it to be so large though. And so blue. Why blue though? Since the lands were white, you've might as well use white as your colour scheme, no?
It's been... 4 or 5 days since I left for Atlas, and I landed on solid ground just a few hours ago. You didn't hear this from me, but I spend a few minutes kissing and thanking the ground for existing.
Ahem! Anyways, after landing, I immediately started sprinting towards civilization. I had a beacon after all, that floating city had tendrils connected to the ground. Meaning, there must be civilization below that takes care of said tendrils that hold the city from moving.
At least that's what I think it is. Who knows.
The tendrils were... About 80 kilometres away? Somewhere along the lines. That means a two-day journey if I take my time —
I froze in place as the sound of branches snapping could be heard. 4 o'clock, sounds to be a group. The steps were not so heavy, so either a Beowolf pack or a Sabyr pack. Drawing Raiden, I got ready to jump into action, my right hand on the handle of the blade —
BA-BA-BA-BA-BANG!
The sudden fire of bullets caused me to tuck and roll, raising my Aura to avoid getting shot as the gunfire continued their volley.
Guns? People? Fucking finally!
I waited until the gunfire stopped, and peeked my head out of my cover as the sound of footsteps came close to where I was hiding. And then I whispered a curse upon realizing who they were.
Humans with animal parts on their bodies walked around with weapons in their arms, sweeping the area with their guards up for any unsuspecting Grimm. Faunus, humans with animal characteristics, each member of the group had either animal ears or horns on their heads, and various sizes of tails. And each of them wore masks that resembled the ones that the Grimm had on their faces.
The White Fang, fuck. Just why now? Wait, no. They hate the SDC, it makes sense to why they were in Atlas in the first place. Just my luck, I guess.
" — I won't be in the attack tomorrow. Sigh, I really want to fuck the SDC too."
"I know right? The boss is saying that she'd only bring her elite forces, yet she's bringing that kid?!
"Honestly, Reem, I think the kid deserves it more than any of us. Hey, Yred, didn't you say that you've heard about the rumours of his face scar?"
"Yeah, Jeffrey told me bout it, heard he saw it in the infirmary tent, fucking Schnees. Hope the bombs we're prepping would deal with them once and for all."
"Hah, I can't see how they'd live after they go boom! I heard that the High Leader made sure to get the more colourful kind. Burned through our budget like a hot knife."
"Serves them right, though the women are quite plump, no? I wonder if we could have some fun once the elite team kidnaps the whores — "
"Get your mind out of the gutter, Reem! And you two, Yred, Tuip, focus! Our job now is to clear out the Grimm around camp for the escape tomorrow! Fuck around, and I'll make sure that you lot are last to retreat back to Menagerie!"
Keeping my mouth shut, I held back a scream as I realized what they were talking about.
Piece it together, Ashton. One, there was an attack happening tomorrow? Must be an attack on the SDDC, why else were the White Fang going to bomb a place. Two, a kid with a face scar that deserves the chance to fuck the SDC over? That's fucking Adam Taurus, isn't he?! Volume 3 deemed him dangerous enough, I definitely do not want to get on his bad side! And third, fucking bombs?!
Yeah, I got to get out of Atlas! Another few weeks of travel to Mistral or Vale wouldn't hurt. Yeah this isn't my job to —

... Fuck. FUCK!
Gritting my teeth, I eventually tapped on the Y button aggressively to accept the quest. Eternal Punishment and a Bad End Canon Divergence is something that I'd like to prevent, thank you very much.
OK, think, Ashton. Stop the White Fang from exploding the manor, that should be easy enough, just remove the bombs from the equation. After that, I'll let future Ashton handle the other three question marked objectives.
Hearing the footsteps walk away from my hiding place, I waited until they were far enough to get up. Cracking my neck, I slung a sheathed Raiden on my left hip as I followed them from a distance. The faunus would eventually lead me to their camp once they were done with their patrol, I just have to be patient.
And I am a very patient person.
