DxD: Emperor of Chaos

CHAPTER 6

-

He was caught red-handed with his Sacred Gear out in the open. Fuck, he was careless.

“ — is the basics of the peerage system. Any questions?”

He was currently sitting on a very comfy couch in the student council room, surrounded by the peerages of the two sisters of the Maou. Shitori Souna, well Sitri Sona is her real name, was explaining the peerage system to him along with the Great War that happened a few centuries ago.

While she and Gremory explained about the topics at hand, his eyes glanced over at the peerage members of both peerages, noting that they were the same as their canon counterpart, with Asia Argento.

Looks like the reincarnation process went well from the look on her cute, innocent and healthy face. Definitely was a good move of his, requesting a few days to let the poor girl be taken care of before all this.

“None, I understand.”

He replied after a few moments of silence. The eyebrow of Sitri rose at the answer while Gremory took the silence as uncertainty.

“Are you sure? We have just dumped the whole summary of the Great War and the Peerage System onto you, it is quite a lot to take in at one time.”

He would have said no, but with the amount of info that they just dumped, his other sets of memories surfaced, so he understood the basics at least.

“Yeah, I got it in one go. Great War was bad for devils, and Peerage System is good for devils to increase their numbers.”

They stared at him, especially the white-haired friend of his. If looks could kill, that glare of hers would definitely kill him 3 times over. He shivered slightly at the thought of getting punched by her.

“Ara, Ryuuto-kun, you’re taking this quite well.”

Himejima-san said with a soft voice as he simply grinned, his decision set.

“Well, I can’t doubt your words because of this.”

A shine illuminated the room, and a second later, dimmed as the Twice Critical appeared on his arm. His words were the truth, the moment this gauntlet of his appeared on his arm, he accepted that this life of his would change forever.

“Hey, that looks just like my Sacred Gear!”

A shine of green radiated from Hyoudou’s arm, revealing the famed Boosted Gear that he oh’ so hated with a burning passion.

The difference of the Twice Critical on his arm and the Boosted Gear was interesting. Comparing it side by side, he noticed that his Sacred Gear was thinner than the original. Not only that, but it was also lacking the golden spikes.

“A Twice Critical, from the look of it, though it is less bulky than the average… I see, so that’s how you went toe-to-toe with a Middle-Class exorcist, with the 2x Boost. Along with Magic? Yes, that aligns with my predictions.”

Sitri noted with a sharp analysis as Gremory looked at Sitri with a look. He was about to mention his other Sacred Gear, but decided to just keep it to himself for now since they both were sharing a quiet conversation.

A few seconds of silence later, the Student Council President sighed, massaging her temples before nodding, giving her the green light.

“Ryuuto Akira-kun, you are very powerful for a human, and your value will especially skyrocket if you reincarnate as a devil. I would like to extend an invite for you to join my peerage.”

Gremory dropped the bomb, as Hyoudou yelled out in shock, his eyes darting to his King.

“W-What? No, not the gaijin — Kruuuh!”

Huh, Toujou smacked him in the rib with an elbow jab, glaring at her senior. Not jealous of him, her hits hurt a lot even after training this body up to the race limit.

Still, an invitation…

A devil. The perks were insane, he would sacrifice his freedom and race, just to break his limits and gain a huge multiplier to his abilities and physique. That was really good. Being human would just waste his potential.

But will his pride let him? Would his pride allow him to get fed by a spoon filled with power? Just like that? A few silent seconds of thinking later, he gritted his teeth as he punched his face, shocking the whole room except for Toujou, who already seen him punch himself in the face too many times when in deep thought.

Fuck, he was granted an opportunity, to become something great, to be powerful! He was not going to lose this chance because of his fucking pride! Fuck you, pride, he is taking every shortcut he could get!

Canon is always happening to Gremory, and he was a dragon in name (Ryuuto) and in spirit (Sacred Gears). They relish and laugh at the face of chaos.

“… I accept.”

Gremory’s face glowed as bright as the damn sun while Sitri simply held her poker face. Glancing to his side, he watched as Toujou’s body relaxes. Their eyes met as he simply gave her a grin. She returned the gesture giving him a thumbs up.

Quickly glancing at the other peerage members of the redhead, he noticed that they didn’t have much of an expression change, simple smiles and happy faces. And of course, he ignored the yells of sorrow from Hyoudou, the dude was pathetic before V9 in his opinion.

“Wonderful! Glad to have you in the peerage, Ryuuto-kun.”

Standing up, Gremory dusted her skirt before grouping her peerage.

“If you’ll excuse us, Sona. I’d like to start on Ryuuto-kun’s reincarnation as soon as possible.”

“Of course, and congratulations Ryuuto. Welcome to the Underworld’s side.”

“Thanks, Kaichou-san.”

They were now in the Occult Research Clubroom in the old building of Kuoh Academy. Sitting opposite to him was Gremory and Himejima, while standing beside the two were Kiba and Hyoudou. Toujou, however, was sitting next to him, in her “usual spot” from what he heard after Hyoudou questioned why she was sitting at that spot.

“Let’s get started then, Ryuuto-kun.”

His soon-to-be master said with a gentle look before suddenly a magic circle flared from her chest (As in her torso chest, ahem.). Raising her hand out in expectance, Akira watched as a chessboard container materialised before landing on her palm.

Opening the box, his Touki senses went haywire as he felt weird energy signatures in it. It was not evil, but it felt dark and ominous compared to the other devils around him.

Gremory then placed the remaining Evil Pieces of hers onto the table, a Rook and a Knight. The pieces seemingly started to glow a bloody-red as Gremory explained what each piece will do to his body.

The Knight Piece will cause his body to gain increased speed and mobility, but his main weakness will be his low defence. In layman terms, the Knight Piece will grant him a +10 in agility every time he levels up, while normal abilities will be a +5 instead. However, his defence will be a normal +1.

The Rook Piece however is the opposite, it causes his body to gain increases physical strength and defence, but his main weakness will be his low speed. A +10 in strength, and defence, but a +1 in speed and agility.

The Knight Piece suits his fighting style of being a forward technical fighter, it was the best choice. Speed outranks everything in his opinion, but… The lowered defence is really bad, considering the fact that he was going to face against gods whose attacks will be devastating. What’s the point of speed when the enemy throws a wide-AOE attack that covers the whole battlefield?

Yes, the Rook Piece looks better stat-wise. Speed was something that he could train, and with Instantaneous Movement and Flight, it would close the gap relatively closer.

“So, which Piece will you take?”

Gremory asked to which Akira nodded to himself, confident in his choice.

“I’ll take the Rook Piece, Gremory-san.”

Standing up, he walked towards Gremory who took the chess piece, the gleam of red intensifying as Gremory raised the piece a few inches from his heart.

His heart started pumping as demonic energy seeps into his body, Gremory was already starting to reincarnation process. He swallows the nervousness away as he was told to raise his magical energy to meet a certain level, and so he did.

The air hitches at the sudden rise in energy, Akira concentrating on drawing as much magical energy as possible to be level with the Piece’s current energy signature. A second and a half later, he met the requirement, to which Gremory immediately pushed.

The Piece touched his chest before it sunk into him, the energies emitted from the Piece and his own intertwining beautifully into one from what his senses were praising before the Piece disappears into him.

And… nothing happened. He touched the skin where the Piece went through. His body didn’t feel different at all. He even summoned his Twice Critical and Boosted himself to feel any difference in his body’s stamina. Nada, nothing changed at all.

“That’s… Kind of anti-climactic. I was honestly expecting for more flair.”

Gremory, no — It’s Buchou now, simply chuckled as she explained.

“Your body and soul do not realize it yet; it usually takes a day or two for your body to assimilate with the Piece and change.”

Ah, dang. He was just about to grind his mastery over demonic energy too, that’s unfortunate to have to wait for a few more days to play around with it.

“What about my human limits? Is it shattered by now?”

Buchou had a thoughtful look before nodding, confirming that it broke already.

“It should be, since the Piece would heighten your body’s latent potential higher than a normal human being to start the assimilation process.”

His grin widens as his fists tightens. Oh, fuck yeah baby! Do you know how long he’d hit the ceiling of his race? How heavy weights feel even after a year of training to no avail? How his body would break down if he even did something that exceeds his limits?

And that limit is broken now. He was going to train so hard that he will faint for gains! Fuck yeah!

“… Scary face you’re making.”

And every emotion that he was feeling died at that moment.

“Dammit, Toujou, I was having a moment!”

“… Don’t get too high with power.”

“Fufufu, what a funny kohai, right Yuuto?”

“Well, he is quite the character.”

“Arghhh, you damn handsome gaijin! You just… Auuuuhhh!”

“Ise-san! Are you alright?”

Buchou watched the scene in front of her before giggling. Yes, he would be a good addition to her family.

“Welcome to the Gremory Household, Ryuuto-kun!”

With a smile, he gave them a bow.

“Yeah, please take care of me for the next few centuries then.”
