HP: The Name's Constantine...

CHAPTER 16

-

Leaning on a lamppost, he pockets his hands into his jeans as he whistles the chorus tune of Take On Me, the current hit song of the mundane.

Seriously, wizardry music was HORRIBLE, and he meant that with all caps. It... He couldn't explain it at all, but take his word for it, it was horrendously bad, and people still buy their tickets to watch them.

He was waiting in front of the subway station, since that was their meetup place. The reason being was that there was an international portkey in an empty room in the station.

Plus, Aria wanted to go out to watch a movie, so he obliged.

While chilling out waiting for his friend, he had to ignore the blatant looks and stares of the people walking past him.

Sure, he was taller than most his age, a whopping 133 centimeters, and that he was a lone kid in the street wearing casual clothing when it was summer, but come on, you all were staring at a kid!

He didn't even know why people were staring at him. That was what's confusing him. There wasn't anything to look.

Feeling his magic sensitivity spike caused him to frown slightly, that meant that a wizard was coming. Cautiously, he eyed the direction before his eyes were blessed.

Aria, wearing a sunhat, was waving at him with an excited face, holding onto a purse. She was wearing a tight aqua blue summer dress that highlighted her bountiful bust and hourglass-like waist line, while her feet wore high sandals.

Running up the stairs, she engulfs him in a tight hug before he could even object to it. He was about to suffocate under the two mountains when she pulled away, with him barely surviving his death.

"Wick! It's so good to see you!"

She excitedly said before cupping his cheeks.

"Did you lose your baby fat? Oh, you look so darn cute!"

You might be wondering, why weren't the people gawking at her pouncing on her like rabid rabbits? Well, it was because they found a way to reduce the range of her Allure.

Her Allure was airborne based magic that affects the senses of anything around her, so by manifesting an airtight Mana bubble around her like the Bubble Head Charm, she is able to breathe easily while also reeling her Allure in.

The cost of the Mana bubble was little too, so she could walk around with it constantly 24 hours straight without feeling strained at all.

Pulling her hands away from his cheeks, John glared at her before offering his hand. Their movie was at 2, so they could make it to the café before 12 and take their time.

"Such a gentleman."

Aria said with a grin before they walked to the café with interlocking fingers (She did it).

Now that he looked closely, she was gorgeous. Her long blonde hair, her encapsulating grayish blue eyes, her cute nose, her sharp jawline, she was in his standards a 10/10 if it weren't for the fact that he was still 8 years old.

"— And then this bastard came up to me and tried to push me!"

Aria complained as she took a bite of her pancake that were drizzled with maple syrup.

"Maybe he was in a hurry."

He replied to at least join some conversation as she huffed.

"Bullshit! He totally was trying to! I swear, British people have no manners at all."

She said with a finality as John snorted.

"And me?"

"I know you're American by heart, Wick."

She said with certainty before taking a sip of her latte, prompting a satisfied moan at the good taste.

"Mmmh! This is wonderful!"

She praised as John remarked after taking a sip of his hot chocolate, noticing that someone had fainted near their table.

"I told you I have good taste in coffee."

"Bah! I drilled that into you when you recommended instant coffee a few years ago! That is blasphemy in its finest!"

On her birthday, he sent two huge packets of instant coffee to her. He totally forgot about that.

Ever since that day, she had been bringing him out whenever there was a holiday to taste coffee to the point that he was a connoisseur of coffee, even though he hated the taste of it.

"You gave me horrible dark choco from America, Aria."

John retorted back as he remembered the memory of him receiving the worst bar of chocolate that he had ever tasted once their job was done, it made him puke out everything. It was literally bad, he got stomach aches from that.

"T-That was a long time ago!"

She said with embarrassment as she looked away from him.

"Anyways, here!"

She fishes into her purse that was positioned oh' so randomly between her chest before taking out two tickets for the movies. Taking one of them while ignoring the look that she gave him, he looked at the movie name before his eyebrow raised.

"Top Gun? Didn't this air on May?"

Surprisingly the movies in his old world were the same with this one.

He was on a business trip in the mundane world for more guns and ammo when he heard about the successful movie. He didn't watch it though since he was busy, well until now.

"I was really excited about this one when I realized that it was airing during school days! This Tom Cruise fellow is really cute!"

She said with a gush before looking at the time. It was currently 1.21, and their movie was at 2.

Standing up from her seat, she pulled on his hand before they suddenly left the café. At this point, he just lets her drag him as he went along with her plans, no matter how funny they were. That's what friends do, right?

He just sighed at the fact that he hadn't drunk his choco finish yet as she slings her arm around his. With a happy smile from her though, made him let it go as they walked to the theater.

"That was a good movie."

John noted with a smile as he remembered the details of some scenes, especially the "Need for Speed" scene, that was iconic as fuck.

"And who knew muggle airplanes were so quick? They flew faster and higher than our brooms..."

Aria said with a curious face as John nodded.

"The Wizardry World is much slower in technology than the mundane. The reason being is because of magic."

"How so?"

"Magic is much more convenient and easy when doing tasks. Potions could basically cure everything with just the right potions. There are enough spells to satisfy a generation for life. There are even animals and pets that could do our jobs if discrimination was not a thing.

Therefore, they become lazy and disregard change in their society. Think about it, no successful innovations have been introduced to the wizardry world in the past decade or two.

The Wizardry World is stagnating fast compared to the mundane. Well, that's my theory and thought process."

He explained slowly as Aria hummed in thought before nodding in agreement.

"That is true... So what can we do?"

"... Nothing, honestly. The visions of wizards are horrible compared to us, even if we explain and give sufficient facts, they would just treat us like shit. Worse because we aren't "purebloods"."

John shrugged his shoulders as he emphasized the words "purebloods", causing Aria to sigh as she understood the meaning.

They went to get some ice cream after that conversation, walking in comforting silence as they window shopped.

Remembering about the letters that she sent him, John took a second to make a decision before asking her about them.

"So, do you have some problems? The way you worded your recent letters were... disturbing."

Her eyes widened slightly for a moment before she halts in her place. Looking back at her for the response, she simply smiled with a hint of hatred.

"... Can you help kill my father?"

His gripped slipped as he dropped his ice cream onto the floor, gaping at her.

"... What?"
