UaRoB: Chapter 52 — The Red Morning, Day I

Comments

From behind the Lannister lines came a shriek of counterfire. Arrows. Ballistae. Yes ballista can be mounted on carts but Tywins force literally marched his army hundreds of miles on what had to be over extremely treacherous terrain the average Roman legionary made 18 miles a day with supply depots and a strong pack animal baggage system which Tywin doing his teleportation trick somehow managed in less than a fortnight

Stay healthy and in good spirits, dude! About chapter, I would say that here is some unrealistic things like Lannisters' artillery, high moral and problems from Jon side, that's quite impossible because of quality and gear of his army, they are much more hardened and battle ready than that joke that left from Tywin' forces... Boltons' attack is also strange at the best. Why would Ramsey be in Riverlands? Didn't Roose left him as castelian in Dreadfort, it would be logical as for family with only two members 🤔 Jon's forces has all advantages compared to opponent. They have their field, they won everything and has more experience. So even 10 000 levies from Crownlands who have almost zero motivation to fight, can't change battle' outcome. Hanibal had beat army of 100 000 Romans with less than half of their numbers

You are gonna make me tear up, thank you so much... And don't worry I don't plan to go anywhere.

Jajasx222

I need you to keep yourself healthy and full of inspiration cuz no one else quite does it like you and i would hate to lose your stories

Von Mehz

Hmmm the Mountain needs to die for sure. If he dies not only will that be a huge morale loss for the Lannister forces as their monster is dead. Not to mention it'll echo all the way back to Dorne that the Starks were the ones to avenge them

Simplexity

the safest way tio deal with the mountain would be to use the scorpions bolt to kill him when hes charging the lines

SharingFARE

True, but they’ll just swear vengeance and usurpation instead as Faegon would be older than Jon (not by much), and they’d swear to kill the Lannister’s for killing Queen Elia and princess Rhaenys.

GalacticTNT

Agreed. Part of what makes Jon so dangerous is that he has specialized engineers to make siege weapons fast. Otherwise all the sieges would have lasted longer.

I don't know how the Lannisters have any artillery if they moved so fast they had to leave their wagon train behind.

Jacob Laflamme

I wish lady, nymeria, and summer could join this battle. They could have a big wolf pack with them.

Logan65

Anxiety is his companion, and while he has gotten better since Ned's death it comes out to play in situations like this. He couldn't even sleep... I agree with you though, his situation is great and he should be able to hold a few days, even if Tywin has 10k more men.

Jajasx222

Jon seems a bit too bleak here, His situation is actually great and Tywin has no realistic way to dislodge his army given how fortified its location is. He could conceivably hold this crossing indefinitely.

Potato

Looks like Ramsey found out about Jon having his father killed and decided to take his little band of psychopaths on a suicide mission. If Jon find a way to kill the Mountain in battle any legitimacy that Faegon has will go down the drain.

EM

Jon should crucify clegane if he manages to get him, that’d really demoralise the enemy.

JustSomePointlessLife

Thank you for the chapter. It’s a race against time for Robb, so hopefully he arrives quickly and Tywin’s army gets encircled. John better have a plan for Clegane otherwise he’s going to lose a lot of men.

Radiant Tiefling

Hopefully this is the last time Jon underestimates Tywin. With tywins entire legacy gone, the mountain looking to be about to die, and if I remember correctly armory Lorch already dead. The martells got no justice explanation for their rebellion.
