I think for SF9's performance, it was beautifully executed, but unfortunately, if I didn't have the background knowledge from the behind-the-scenes footage, I don't think I'd know what, exactly, their concept was.

The way the other groups so heavily 'leveled up' the next round was just a testament to that. The 'advice' the Boyz got for their stage ended up being quite ridiculous. 'we expected more'. I'm sure there were other good feedbacks, each group got multiple A4's but Mnet was really trying to push this "stressed about how to top RTK image" on TBZ. How much more are they possibly supposed to give?! The level their performances of RTK reached was perfect. Any more and they'd literally be a circus, more sets/ backup dancers would only diffuse their energy and stage presence beyond that point I'm afraid. As for iKON, they're not used to performing in covid conditions and it's painfully obvious, especially earlier on in the show. These guys are aces at hyping up a live audience and their stage interaction is amazing. It's what makes me love them so much as performers. Give them their handhelds back and let them sing live for goodness sakes. BTW. iKON released dance video's for each of their Kingdom performances on their YT and it's so so much better with their own camera work than that on the show. It really shows how different camerawork can make or break a performance ngl. Interacting solely with a camera in the same way is a different thing though, groups like the boyz who have done RTK and know the layout and the way one can use the 4D stage definitely have an advantage on that part. ATEEZ won this round. By a literal mile lol. The live vocals (where necessary, I'm not delusional thanks) and the explosive choreo, the clever reuse of props from their concerts, the freaking ship and kraken, they did everything to cement their image as the wild pirate group in everyone's minds and it was genius. Fuc I just wish Mingi had been there. 😭

The stakes aren't as high since everyone participating already has a stable career and theres no threat of being eliminated and all their hard work being for nothing :) also could b because they all know how to act on camera due to their experience so there isnt as many moments of pure silence for mnet to fill with dramatic music.
