Ada Wong Christmas 2024 Render Release

Hey all :)

Hope you've been doing well since my teaser post a few days ago! Today I have for you all a holiday-themed render to fit the season. For the past few years now, I've done a Christmas/holiday render with Claire each winter, so I thought I'd change things up a bit. Also sorry this took a bit longer than I hoped for; I spent more time iterating on this render than I originally planned on (more details below).

So, going in, I knew for this render I definitely wanted a look that avoided the "too clean" problem I touched on in the Reflection Jill Valentine model swap release post. But I wasn't quite happy with any one of my usual post-processing styles/looks — each version had both certain aspects I liked but also various issues I disliked. That's when I had the idea to try something a bit different and basically blend together elements from each look ("soft," "sharp," and "stylized color grading") using various compositing techniques. The end result is something I'm quite happy with, as it keeps the focal object, Ada, in sharp focus, while adding some subtle post-processing FX to background elements and giving the render a distinct look.

As for the render itself, you have two variants here — without and with tattoos (respectively). While I find the idea of "hidden" tattoos being visible through a sheer negligee to be quite erotic conceptually speaking, I found that, for this render specifically, the contrast of the negligee and tattoos created too many points of focus (i.e., it makes the render feel too "noisy"). So my personal preference for this one is without tattoos, but I went ahead and included both so you can make your own choice :)

Also, the embedded renders here are native resolution JPEGs; if you want lossless PNGs, you'll find both native resolution and half resolution copies in the archive!

In closing, not to ruin the surprise, but I'll also be rendering out a Jill Valentine model swap of this, like I've done with the past few renders! I'll be rendering that out tonight and get it published for you all tomorrow :)
