316 Duskbringer

Denizens of the Tower!

My everlasting attempts of making well-designed ships or flying vessels continue! I must say that this particular part of map-making is SO complicated to get right. I've had past attempts ripped to shreds by hobbyist and or nautical experts that know better than I. But I inch closer to the best attempt and this is a good contender. This is Duskbringer. A flying vessel that uses a floating balloon and two elemental engines.

The fire elemental (Area 3) is used to shoot fire into the balloon to gain altitude. The air elemental (Area 6) powers the propeller. This ship has enough space and cabins for 14 passengers (including officers), 20 crew members, and 1 ton of cargo. Duskbringer also has three harpoon guns that can be used to latch onto other flying vessels to board them. At the front of the hull, inside the mouth of the red dragon effigy is a weapon's bay with a large firebolt cannon. It is very powerful but they can only aim it by pointing the whole ship toward its target. All in all, this is an awesome location to board and take. Or it can also serve as a wonderful operations base for a party of adventurers who travel a lot around the world.

This resource includes no lore but I have included detailed descriptions of each area and a statblock for the whole ship. Individual assets of this ship for use in Roll20 are included too.

Thanks for your support and let us know what you think of this flying monster and if stuff like this is welcome in your particular campaigns.

Until the next one, Elven Tower.

sure thing I love ships. Those you mention sound similar to the ones in Eberron. or the ones in Final Fantasy IX.

Elven Tower

Nice, though a little odd. I wonder if you would be willing to do some sky ships in the vein of Rolemaster's Shadow World. In this world there is an element that things float by. There is a floating city called Sel Kai and the ships that defend it along with the merchant ships. They are all capable of both air and water travel. But they have unique design because they do not need giant air balloons or other types of contraptions to keep them afloat. They do need stabilizers and wings of some kind so they don't just flip over or what not.
