[PATREON EXCLUSIVE] How Kepler Interactive is Changing the Publishing Game

Back with another interview, this week speaking with Matthew Handrahan, the portfolio director at Kepler Interactive, a publisher I've been talking about a lot lately in Unpacked episodes!

Branding is coming soon for this podcast series as we'll probably be calling it - Beyond the Pixels.

Enjoy!

Great interview Nick. I used to work in local journalism as a photojournalist, and as our newspapers were being swallowed up by bigger and bigger corporations we asked the same questions posed by Matthew about the 'bread and butter' journalism that we were doing - who is going to do this when we all get the boot? The national newspapers used us as the wide net of 'found news' to trawl through to select content for thier more localised news pages and features. Those stories were just lost - no more local school events, 100 year old dears getting cards from the Queen, scum bags outside of court, new local cafe opening etc. Thankfully I've seen a few hyper-local newspapers pop up, usually stemming from a blog or FB page, that are releasing in print to a tight targeted audience with local businesses running ads. There maybe green shoots appearing, I just hope they stay in the black long enough to gain traction. Thanks again for creating interesting and thought-provoking content.
