Cleaning Up After The Ancients - Chapter 139

Chapter 139 - Fallen Gods - Part 1

Enough of what Yami said matched up with what Eventus already knew about what was going on with the Goa'uld that he couldn't immediately discount her surrender as some complex trap. After all, the Jaffa were actively hunting all Goa'uld for execution, not just the former System and Under lords. While the humans of Earth would likely hand her over to the Tok'ra to be disappeared as a follow up to freeing the host.

Which likely amounted to the exact same fate in the end as they would have suffered being caught by the Jaffa.

And that put him in a bit of bind, because while the standard procedure for dealing with a surrendered criminal on an alien world was to turn them over to local law enforcement. That went out the window when said criminal was facing the death penalty.

“You realize your forceful taking of a host is sure to end with you being found guilty of at least one rather severe crime under my people’s laws?” Eventus asked just to be sure she understood what she was getting herself into by doing this.

I suspected as much.” Yami admitted, languidly rising to her feet. “But given the circumstances, what other options do I have?

“Bribeing one of the human governments with Goa’uld technology in exchange for hiding you away with enough money to live like a queen for the rest of your days?” Eventus put forward as the elevator door opened.

Similar agreements for sanctuary have been attempted with the Tau’ri in the past.” Yami said. “All however ended with their betrayal.

Eventus would have liked to argue against that, however his knowledge of how Stargate Command had treated Camulus made it somewhat difficult.

“I suppose it is your choice.” He finally agreed, stepping into the elevator and motioning for her to join him.

Pressing the button for roof access, he took a few moments to consider the wider implications of her approach. “So how did you know to find me here?”

The human’s information network is not particularly secure compared to those of the Goa'uld. So once I learned of your existence it was not difficult to track down where you would be on this day.”

There wasn’t really a lot Eventus could question in that given his own ease in navigating the supposedly secure areas of the internet, so he just nodded in understanding. “I tried to warn them about how easy it would be for someone to infiltrate their world, I don’t really think they took me seriously though.”

My infiltration took place last year after the Tau’ri poisoned several of our worlds.” Yami offered. “After the collapse of the System Lords however I became trapped here.

The elevator let out a ding as it reached the roof, and the doors opened revealing the empty seeming helicopter padd upon which the gate ship was sitting. Grabbing the remote out of his pocket, he hit the button causing the empty space to shimmer as the vehicle reappeared.

Turning to one of the guards flanking the elevator house, he offered a slightly awkward smile as they eyed Yami with thinly veiled suspicion. “Do you know if General O’Neill is still around?”

“I can check for you, sir.” The one on the right offered, flicking on the radio hooked to his belt.

“This is roof security, is General O’Neill still in the building?” He inquired into his headset.

“He should be.” A woman’s voice confirmed after a moment into his ear piece.

“It looks like he’s still here.” The guard basically repeated, seemingly unaware that Eventus could overhear the response this close. “Is there something you need relayed to him?”

“Actually, yes.” Eventus awkwardly smiled. “It seems a small emergency came up, could you ask him to come up here to discuss it?”

The guard relayed the message, and after a brief conversation with the woman on the other end he focused back on Eventus. “General O’Neill is on his way up.”

“Thanks.” Eventus said, motioning for Yami to follow him as he walked over to the gate ship's lowered ramp.

“Take a seat.” He told her, motioning to one of the rear-compartment’s jumper seats. “Sorry about the bags, I just got back from a three day vacation and haven’t had the time to add them to the pile of stuff going back to Atlantis yet.”

It is of no matter.” Yami said, slowly looking around the cabin as she took a seat. “I must admit, it is interesting to see the interior of one of these vessels in person.

“Not the first one your line has run into?” Eventus asked in interest as he sat down across from her.

Yami nodded. “Several have been recovered over the millennia since your people returned to this galaxy. The last such one was examined by my mother Tvashtr, like the others however the control crystals had been wiped, so very little was able to be learned.

“That was the standard procedure for abandoning a gate ship where someone didn’t have any plans of coming back for it.” Eventus explained.

Several minutes of awkward silence ensued after that before the sound of footsteps on the roof drew their attention to the hatch.

“All right, I’m here.” Jack announced, eyes briefly flicking to Yami as he stepped onto the gate ship's ramp. “So what’s the big problem? Found a new girlfriend and need advice on how to break up with your old one Earth style?”

“Jack.” Eventus put forward before motioning to the woman across from him. “Meet Yami of the Goa'uld.”

O'Neill went immediately tense at the word, only to relax a moment later. “Good joke, almost had me.”

It is no joke, Jack O'Neill.” Yami said, and the obvious Goa'uld timber in her voice sent O'Neill all but jumping back before her words were even finished.

“Evan…” O'Neill began in a cautious tone, not taking his eyes off the passively sitting woman. “Why is there a Goa'uld in your spaceship?”

“She surrendered herself to me.” Eventus admitted.

“Oh for crying out loud.” O'Neill muttered, dragging a hand down his face before turning a glare on Eventus. “Please tell me you called me up here for a quiet handover and not, I don't know, something else?”

“Sorry.” Eventus apologized, noting with some amusement the way Yami's shoulders slightly relaxed at the admittance. “I called you up here in hopes that you might be able to convince Stargate Command to let me bring her back to the SGC till I can finish up with Teal'c's request to address the leaders of the Free Jaffa Nation about the Ori problem.”

A few seconds passed with O'Neill just staring at him.

“You know about that whole thing with Oma and Anubis, right? Because I'm starting to get the feeling you might be heading down the same road.”

“I'm going to put her on trial, Jack.” Eventus explained since he could see where the man was coming from with his worry. “And I can assure you the verdict will include the safe removal of her from her host who will then be returned to you in better condition then she left.”

You should be aware that as a fully grown Goa'uld I cannot survive for more than a few hours outside of either a host or a specially calibrated aquatic environment.” Yami offered, eyeing Eventus in an almost challenging manner.

“I'm aware.” Eventus said, since that bit of biological information about the species had been in Stargate Command's files. “But growing you a new non-sentient host body is relatively simple.”

Both O’Neill and Yami were giving him odd looks now, and he rolled his eyes.

“I designed and grew an entirely new type of humanoid life, something like growing a new human host for a Goa’uld isn’t particularly difficult in comparison.”

Author’s Notes: I decided to change the Goa’uld voice to bolded text to better allow me to differentiate when they’re doing it and when they’re not.

And on that note, Jack was this close to getting out of there for the night. :D Oh well, he knew what the job would be like when he took it.

Man I really makes me wonder why the Goa'uld never went the route of hosting themselves in Brain dead Clone bodies. As we see Bal does it and lot of them have the technology so I I wonder why considering it Removes a Security risk for them an also allows them to Custom design their Bodies.
