Molly is pontificating again about the state of this modern world: AI

Hey all, just a minor soapbox thing: Probably about 10 years ago, I was asked by the folks at FantasyFeeder to write a story on commission for an anthology of weight gain erotica that they planned to sell for profit. I've just been made aware that the story that I wrote, "Three Heifers on Holiday," has recently been turned into a video - a series of still image illustrations with voice over narration. I wasn't made aware of this beforehand nor does it appear that I'm credited as the original author of the story. I don't recall the details of the contract that I signed with FantasyFeeder for their use of this story, but I'm going to assume this is within their rights to do. The thing that annoys me is that it appears that this video makes use of AI images and voice narration and I want to make it clear that I do not endorse this. I am opposed to the use of AI in creative works and I think that it is insulting to actual hard-working artists and actors to do this sort of thing. (I am aware of my own hypocrisy here, since I experimented a little bit with AI early on, but you know what? I'm going to say that my stance evolved as I became more aware of the threat that it poses to creative people.)

So anyway. I know this is a niche issue so I won't judge folks for making their own choices about what they buy, but I don't want anyone to see this video and assume that because of this I am cool with AI. I am very much not. But that's my extremely cantankerous personal opinion. XD

I appreciate the heads-up. The rules are changing and it's entirely plausible that creators like you who made deals before those changes are going to be seen as responsible or endorsing things they didn't do. Thanks for clarifying.

Wow, that's extremely dickish from Fantasy Feeder. I know they've had some...interesting moments over their time online, but I didn't think requisitioning a story from their site and then monetising it with AI-generated images and the like. I'm pretty free in terms of my views on IP and licensing, but even I wouldn't be surprised if that fan into some hurdles, even with their terms and conditions. Personally, what radicalised me into being so anti-AI was seeing how many Arts and Humanities students at my university were just brainlessly using ChatGPT throughout their entire class. It's like they were actively *devaluing* their own degrees in the middle of class! I guess on the plus side, imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. The fact your work seemed to be good enough to requisition must demonstrate just how fun and erotic your writing is. It's just a shame people might go to that instead of the real deal.

Well said. It's pretty shitty to do, so I'm not surprised that the website that failed to credit an author would go on to "create" a video using AI images and narration.
