pOliTicS :P (Skip if you don't want to be depressed!)

Hello everyone, I apologize for this message - I hate getting political on here, but once again I have to say something or I'm going to lose my mind. As a queer woman and an adult writer, I think it will be obvious that I am extremely dismayed with the results of the US election to put it mildly. I have little faith in the Democrats to do anything ever besides fund raise off tragedy, but I always have faith that the Republicans will swiftly and eagerly do everything they can to brutalize our most vulnerable neighbors as they always have when they have power. I am furious and ashamed that we are here now, and terrified for what the future will bring.

Trump and the Republicans have made it abundantly clear that they intend to make life infinitely harder for most Americans and that criminalizing and suppressing adult content is one of their priorities. Creating adult art is already pretty hard when Amazon and Patreon are so hostile to anything not squeaky clean and I expect that over the next four years (and only four years, if we're lucky) it will only become harder. I don't know what to expect. Erotic writing is generally further down the list of Republican targets than erotic art or film, primarily because I don't believe Republicans do much reading, but it's foolish to believe that they won't attempt to quash that as well.

I think statements of solidarity are largely meaningless and only serve to assuage my own bad feelings, but I will still make one if for no other reason than to make it clear that I stand firmly on the side of my trans brothers and sisters, the queer community in general, adult artists and sex workers, immigrants, the disabled, and anyone else who's in the crosshairs of these psychotic prudes and glass-chewing freaks. But talk is cheap. In the next few years, I expect that many of us will have to make some difficult choices. You may find you have to sacrifice your own comfort or convenience to do the right thing, and, for us Americans, I know that is a supremely difficult thing to do. We cannot count on our leaders saving us now, so it will be up to us to help each other in the darkest hours. Take care of yourselves out there!
