I have been obsessing over this short story for the better part of the month, and even then i dont have much to show.
There is this short story by Frank R. Stockton titled "The Griffin and the Minor Canon" that has a line that i NEED to use in a short story, and i thought it would be fun to start planning a retelling of said tale in a modern setting, with different environments characters while keeping the general theme and making it more... mine for better and for worse.
oh yea here is the paragraph without context:
"From what I have seen of the people of this town," said the monster, "I do not think I could relish anything which was prepared by them. They appear to be all cowards and, therefore, mean and selfish. As for eating one of them, old or young, I could not think of it for a moment. In fact, there was only one creature in the whole place for whom I could have had any appetite, and that is the Minor Canon, who has gone away. He was brave, and good, and honest, and I think I should have relished him."
something the Griffin says about said Minor Canon when the village begs for it to not eat any of them as the time for the Griffin's meal approaches.
I think it is at it's core literally why I am into certain kinks and things, this sentence encapsulates it all and I want to bring it to whatever modern furry population there is that would happen on my comic because it's so so genuine and so so warm to me.
I'm unsure what level of polish I want on this project, but if I can recreate the vibe of that first panel onto the rest of it, I would be thrilled.
