Falling for the straight bff is a gay trope for a reason. Kinda like crushing on a hot teacher in middle school, it’s something people often do before they’re ready to act on their feelings and have a real relationship because the other party isn’t actually available. Unless Onyx is Keanesexual only (which it doesn’t look like he considers himself to be) then it would actually be healthier for him to focus on guys who are interested than pining for someone he thinks isn’t. It’s not anyone’s fault that all us readers know more than the characters do. 😂

Even if he thinks he's doing the best for Onyx, he's proving to be a small minded person who can only see one side of the story and is acting a lot in his own interest. I like this story a lot cause it's not black and white, all the characters are so human and real, including the ones we don't like. But Ethan is proving to be someone who I'd never want to be close with, for real. And truth to be told, Onyx is in bad shape right now too, cause on one hand it's understandable how confused and hurt he is, while on the other, he's being a jerk not reaching out for his best friend after everything that's happened. Anyway, let's see what happens next hehe

I also think that hailey isn’t as bad as everyone is saying, in the chapter where they had an argument at the park, even though she said some out of pocket things, she still apologised. Hailey and Ethan probably tell each other everything, so I’m assuming Hailey told Ethan about how Keane is no longer interested in her and is in love with ‘Lynx’. So he would know how Keane feels about Onyx, and he already knows how Onyx feels about Keane, which means that he’s deliberately trying to keep them apart. Onyx seemed to quite like the effect Lynx has on Keane! Also, Keane has been able to separate the fact that he loves Onyx from it just being an attraction to Lynx BUT we also know that he quite likes the thought of Onyx in a bra (and he did buy that dress for him).
