Big Update (Please Read!)
Added 2025-02-07 14:00:14 +0000 UTCHey everyone!
I’ve got a bit of an update for you all—both some good news and a slight adjustment that I want to be upfront about.
The Bad News (Kinda)
Starting next week, I’m adjusting my posting schedule back down to three chapters per week instead of five.
This was always the original plan, but I pushed it up to five weekly because I wanted to give more to Patrons, and growth was really picking up thanks to Rising Stars... and yeah, somehow, I just kept that pace going instead of stopping it after the RS run. But life outside of writing is demanding more of my time. Since I still have a job outside of writing, I can’t keep up the same pace while maintaining the quality I want.
To give you some perspective, here’s what my weekly process looks like right now for the story:
Monday - Friday: Writing 6-8 chapters, averaging over 3,000 words each (and they’re only getting longer!).
Weekends: Running chapters through edits before posting on Patreon and Royal Road for the week. Sometimes, these edits are pretty large rewrites, not just grammar.
Whenever the heck I can find the time: Editing Volume 1 to fix small things (mostly in the later chapters now) before sending it to Aethon for publishing.
Running around like a lunatic: When a beta read or my friend reading finds an inconsistency and I need to add a whole new chapter or edit something before it goes onto Patreon.
I love this story, but at this pace, I’m basically living and breathing it 24/7. Even when I’m walking my dog or at the gym, I’m listening to my own chapters to tweak them and make notes. It’s not burnout—I still love doing this—but I'm just looking ahead and know that it's not sustainable long-term. Maybe if this were my full-time job and only focus, but for now, I need to pace myself.
On top of that, posting on Royal Road can be stressful. While Patreon is almost always an awesome experience, RR can be a mixed bag with a lot of nitpicking and criticism. Dropping to three chapters a week will hopefully give me a bit more peace of mind and let me focus on making the story the best it can be.
The Good News (Bonus Chappies!)
Since I’m making this change, I want to make sure no one who recently signed up feels like they’re suddenly getting less than they expected. So, I’ll be dropping some bonus chapters to make sure we still get over twenty chapters this month!
This schedule change also means:
I’ll have more time for editing and plotting, making sure the story develops in a way that I’m happy with and that the quality stays high.
Chapters will likely be a bit longer, meaning those 3-4k word chapters will keep coming.
I can focus on pulling Patreon further ahead (goal: 40 chapters ahead!).
With less focus on RR, I can finally start some Patreon-exclusive content we talked about! Maybe we can do a Patron vote for a short arc or an outside POV you’d like to see. I think that’d be a lot of fun and a great way to add more for you all beyond just advanced chapters.
Final Thoughts
I really appreciate all of you, and I want to make sure this story remains something I love writing—and something you all enjoy reading! This change is definitely just about me finding balance in my life to keep it going and have fun completing the series.
Thanks for understanding, and I’m excited to keep bringing you more Spell Weaver!
