Thinking About MORE!
Added 2024-11-04 17:56:21 +0000 UTCHey everyone!
This is some really exciting news, and it makes me so happy to have people here who are interested in supporting my writing (or at least interested enough to want more)!
I wanted to share some updates about my plans moving forward and get your feedback.
Writing Update:
Spell Weaver & Berserker
Last week, I wrote a total of 12 chapters: 5 for Spell Weaver and 7 for Berserker.
I'm planning to keep writing 10 chapters each week during this challenge. Likely with 7 for Berserker and 3-5 for Spell Weaver.
I've gotten some great feedback on Royal Road, and I'm thinking about making some edits in the future.
I also spoke with an artist about creating a better cover for the series.
We reached #4 on the Rising Stars list as of Sunday evening! I'm hoping we can keep climbing. The ratings are looking good, and the follower count is steadily growing.
I do wish I could give Spell Weaver more attention during the Writathon Challenge, but I'm really excited about Berserker, too. There's still so much I want to do with Spell Weaver.
I know that you're here for Spell Weaver, and I want to make sure you're getting what you're here for!
Berserker
I've finished about one-third of Berserker for the Writathon Challenge!
If I stay on track, the book should be done in about two weeks.
Berserker is a stand-alone story set in the same world as Spell Weaver, and I'm having a lot of fun working on it. Jonathan is about as polar opposite of Alex as someone could get.
Since Berserker is part of the Writathon Challenge (which is to write and post 55,000 words on Royal Road), I'm putting a lot of energy into it this month. It's a challenge and goal that I've always wanted to complete. However, I know most of you are really here for Spell Weaver, so I'm not sure if I should post Berserker chapters here on Patreon or keep it just for Spell Weaver.
Moving Forward
Because I'm writing so much more right now for Berserker, once the challenge is over, I want to put that same effort into Spell Weaver to give you all more content. Right now, you're getting three new chapters each week, which means twelve chapters every month. My plan after the Writathon is to start releasing five Spell Weaver chapters per week. This means you'd be getting twenty new chapters each month. I know that we live in a society where people often prefer to binge content, and by increasing the release rate, I hope to give you more consistent content and help us build a stronger community around Spell Weaver!
One thing I'm worried about is over-promising or burning out if it's too much writing. But since I'm already writing more for Berserker, I think I can shift that focus to Spell Weaver pretty easily once the challenge ends.
I'd love to hear what you think about all of this! Should I post Berserker chapters here too? How do you feel about the idea of more Spell Weaver chapters each week?
Thank you all so much for being here and supporting my writing. It truly means the world to me!
Comments
I'm always a fan of more to read, but make sure you don't burn yourself out! I'm not as into berserker builds in general, but I like the world and characters you've created so far, and I'm sure there are readers that would love to get ahead in both series. You could always make them separate tiers so people can choose if they want to read Spell Weaver, Berserker, or both.

2024-11-05 12:37:40 +0000 UTCTried Berserker, think it's great and I'd love more. Between the title and the cover art, I was expecting something vastly different. At least until the rage kicked in at the end of the last chapter and I think that was the least enjoyable part of it for me so far. But very good writing imo. The main character is very different from Alex and I think you wrote him even better. I hope we'll continue to get his perspective occasionally after the side story ends.

2024-11-05 06:09:56 +0000 UTCIt's great to know you have a military background, I don't have any but people I know with one usually align more with my belief of how poorly government and people would fare/react in a situation like these fictional integrations. I've been worried about your interpretation since we haven't really seen much of it yet and people have been getting along fine so far, oblivious. Regardless of if you agree that's good experience to bring to writing.

2024-11-04 19:15:43 +0000 UTCThis is great feedback. Haha, I want your totally unbiased opinion ;) I have a bigger backlog from Patreon (writing Chapter 74 today), so I could certainly extend the Patreon releases over RR, but I want there to be some sort of backlog in case I get sick or for any other reason that I am able to keep your Patreon experience consistent. Also, I am along the same lines of thinking as you. I'd love to see what you think about Berserker. I have a very heavy military background personally, so I'm at least writing about some things there that I've experienced and know. It's been a bit more about finding a balance between including things I know to be accurate and writing things in a way that people without a military background could understand! But yeah, Jonathan is definitely meant to be sort of 'me stronk' sort of character to, hopefully, appease some of the readers who dislike Alex in those early chapters. Also I just love Jonathan and am really looking forward to him showing up as a side character in the main series!

2024-11-04 18:42:52 +0000 UTCSpeaking for myself I'd certainly be happier with 5 releases a week. 3 is usually the lowest I'd be interested in, honestly. My favorite thing is to enjoy new releases with coffee every morning. :) I'd recommend you increase the amount that's ahead on patreon eventually though, so if people unsub it would be a long time before they could get current again on royalroad, but not too long. So they stay subbed as long as it's affordable. I absolutely have no ulterior motive in suggesting this. ;) I can't comment on Berserker since I haven't read it yet, when I looked there were only two chapters and it didn't seem as good as this story (and shorter chapters I think? I like longer chapters). I saw you were getting some flak about Alex on RR, but I think he is the type of MC that makes a story more appealing than some run of the mill 'me stronk' character. And the military perspective is a lot harder to pull off realistically to me, especially in an integration story. It sounds like there are a lot more chapters now or will be soon though, so I will have to check it out soon.
