In a bit of fun casting, the woman who plays the Hearst heiress that is the “kidnapping” victim in the second episode is played by one of the most famous kidnapping victims in real life Patty Hearst.

Yes, to our knowledge at this point, there is only reason to suspect the one rape of Claire was fake. Because it seems the main motivation for faking it was bringing attention to/revenge against the picture "maybe the one in the middle".

The sync with the subtitled version and the audio seems to be off? Alley is fine but the show is off by a few seconds?

I just can't get on board with the defense of Logan here.
The fact that he hired security without telling her was gross. He could have discussed it. He could have argued his case instead of further contributing to her fear and paranoia. Yes, she'd have resisted, but THAT'S where he could have tried to actually convince her it was a good idea. What he actually did in going behind her back is not exactly going to make Veronica trust him more.
I also don't fault Veronica for not answering her phone right then, and I especially don't think it's fair for Logan to judge her for it. Maybe she wants to just eat and will call back afterwards? Like, she's busy, and she's her own person. She doesn't OWE him immediate attention. But maybe that's just me being an old person and thinking it's reasonable to not be in absolutely constant contact with everybody.

Also his character's name is Glen, which I remember someone on one of the forums (TWoP maybe?) pointing out that Glen = Glory + Ben.

I always felt only one of them was faked.

So, Sully's roommate is played by the same actor who played Ben on Buffy. Scarlet is played by the video girl from the Nsync music video Pop. ( Yes, I know that because I was an Nsync girlie.) Second episode, we get as Selma Hearst Rose miss Patricia Hearst. Grand daughter of William Randolph Hearst and famously kidnapped in the 70s and brainwashed by her abductors into joining their terrorist activities. The authorities didn't believe she participated under duress and arrested her. Thus, like her character here, she was vilified on a national level.

I'm so glad you also hate Piz, he's like my least favorite part about the entire show and all the reasons for that are in his character from the first episode he's in - and it's so weird, because from the end of the first episode he's in, he knows that Veronica is dating Logan, yet he still repeatedly seems like he's trying to get involved with her regardless despite her never showing even the slightest inkling of interest for him - and the worst of it is that it sometimes almost feels like the show wants us to root for *that* guy...

So at this point in the show we can assume that there are *at minimum* three real victims of the rapist: Parker, as well as the two girls from the season 2 episode that introduced the plotline

"Mac where are you". They were cutting back this season and only used characters, even credited characters, in episodes they are essential in. That's also why we didn't get Weevil in the first few episodes even though he was in the opening credits. They could have included him to drop the lore about his plea bargain and probation, but chose to wait to do all that until they needed the character for other reasons. Taking little bits that could have been sprinkled in several episodes in earlier seasons to doing a lot of scenes in a single episode.
It would make more sense for V to stay at Macs. But there's no other importance for her character this episode. Same reason we don't see Wallace. But having Veronica at their dorm, is important for her to get the case of the missing boyfriend. Having Piz be there is important for her to get the information about Mercers radio show.
I also would prefer a little bit of Mac in every episode (admittedly I have a bit of a crush) but she'll appear when they Need her character more than just an appearance.

It's easy to forget somewhat recurring characters, so I thought I'd point out that the guy you asked what kind of college student offers tea, is the same resident advisor they had in the first episode, that offered Veronica tea, when she was looking into the "welcome wagon". The Battlestar Galactica curser.
