Just to refresh your memory, Sheriff Marcus had been there since episode 1 (minus the mustache). The deal he made with Silco is what led to the death Sheriff Grayson and the events that transpired afterwards. He's also the one that chloroformed and arrested Vi at the end of episode 3.
