Nulvarith 02 - Heroes to Miners

Just a few more crystals, and then I'm sure we'll head home

Welcome back to Nulvarith, everyone! This release introduces you to the adventurers known as Wingroot League 7 and their endless quest to harvest crystals for the archmage. We've got a great bundle of maps, character portraits, music, and quirky lore for ya. Let's dive in!

Borough Guide

This borough guide is all about the "heroes" that Archmage Alvist Treblyn hired to assist him on what was supposed to be a glorious first contact with HMIs abroad. Instead, these adventurers are forced to mine space crystals until Alvist deems it acceptable to return home. In addition to deep NPC profiles for each hero (and fabulously evocative portraits), we've got details on their habitat, the mine they've built, and bizarre encounters your own players might face as they explore the underbelly of Nulvarith Prime.

Maps

Our main map focuses on the habitat for Wingroot League 7—a janky collection of huts for the heroes—and the entrance to their elaborate but highly precarious mining operation. This may actually be one of the most dangerous maps we've ever created from a "player tokens falling to their death" standpoint. As with all of our Nulvarith releases, we have the following map variants available: Dark, Desert, Underwater, Storm, Storm Aftermath, Spooky, and Asteroid (aka "non-magical space")

Our interior map for this release is the Wingroot League 7 habitat. A central room for meals and crafting is surrounded by individual spaces for the warrior, the witch, the navigator, the courtier, and the ranger. If your players take the place of Wingroot League 7 in this story, perhaps this will be their home! Please note that we are also hard at work creating interior maps for the mine, but we'll be providing those in conjunction with Nulvarith 03. Stay tuned!

Music

Tunnels Through the Shard is your default Nulvarith exploration music. Yes, it is specifically written to be "cave traversal" music, but it's low-to-medium intensity and ambiguously spacy instrumentation makes it useful for all varieties of poking around Nulvarith. The Ambient variant is great for quieter moments or more focused exploration.

Comments

We want to make sure we give folks a bit of the standard fare that is broadly usable in loads of campaigns, but we also really prioritize making unique, zany settings that no one else in this space would touch.

Borough Bound

It'll definitely be a niche release for most, but I had a feeling a handful of people would REALLY vibe with it. Glad you're one of those!

Borough Bound

I genuinely adore this - so much fantasy can be generic or "more medieval stuff"; but this + the svarnahelm are really letting me use things in my campaigns i didnt have the resources to do before

de Quincey

This is actually my new favorite borough
