Krishna didn’t bother to wear a hoody or styling his hair in a bun as he was going to cut the hair in a few minutes anyway. With free hair, flowing like a river, he exited the house. In about 5 minutes, Krishna reached the flower lady( witch )
Krishna - I’m sorry for what I did on the first day, I should’ve apologised for pushing your flower basket down and shouldn’t have made a wrong comment about the flowers you were selling. I have learnt from my mistake and will never repeat it. Can I please cut my hair now? I wanted to ask your permission before cutting my hair, even though I successfully broke the curse.
Witch - is that the real reason you are here? I thought you were here to buy flowers! Just think for a second, do you feel like cutting your hair? What do you like more, playing cricket? or making flower garlands? Answer these questions and you’ll know if you actually did break the curse or not! Hahaha
Krishna started to think for a moment.. “ why is she asking confusing questions, I just wanted to cut my hair!” But to be honest, he did not want to cut his hair. His hair felt like a part of him.. “omg”, he thought, why didn’t I want to cut my hair.. I’ve been doing all these silly things to get rid of the curse, and now that I have broken the curse, I don’t feel like cutting my beautiful hair.. “why am I thinking it as beautiful” Krishna’s mind felt like exploding.. “why am I feeling like this”, he asked the witch
Witch - it’s because you did not break the curse.. you were close but you failed. You might have felt a wave of energy flow through you when the sunset happened, that was when the curse became permanent and did you feel a relaxing sensation when the priest offered your garland to Vishnu? That did not signify you broke the curse, that was the reality morphing itself. So now everyone knows you as the boy with beautifully long womanly hair. No one will find this weird. You have always had such long beautiful hair in this reality. Except you and me no one else knows. Even if you want to cut this hair, you will not be able to do it willingly, you’ll feel exactly how any woman with long hair feels about their hair. To make it simple to understand, if you and your mom were offered a haircut, you’d both feel the same protective feeling about the hair. The reason why you were not able to remove the scent of jasmine from your hair was that you had been wearing jasmine flowers on your hair for several years in this reality hahahaa.. the scent is ingrained in your hair, no amount of shampoo can remove that. Haha..
Krishna’s mind slowly came back into sense, everything she said was true, he could not bring himself to cut his hair, even if he wanted to. All those accessories he found in his bathroom, were not his mom’s but his. It was his hairnet.. “omg the reality has indeed changed”, he couldn’t digest the fact.. but not just that, he still have no knowledge about any sport. Other part of him wants to string jasmine flowers so badly.
Krishna - how can I go to school like this.. and I’m in my school cricket but I don’t have any knowledge of the sport..
Witch - you will go to school just like this, everything will be the same, except you will follow the school’s hairstyle code for girls, like you always had. And about cricket, do you think, you can play any sport with such long hair? So in this reality, you are an experienced Bharatanatyam dancer, no more sports for you. Like always, you are very much interested in flower garland making. As a final gift, I’m giving you this flower garland for free. You won’t be able to see me here again, so feel free to get flowers from other sellers. I know you will, anyway. Farewell boy!
The flower lady disappeared.
Krishna with a flower garland in his hand, walked back to his home in despair. He had no other choice but to accept this reality. He had coffee and went inside the bathroom to shower. The hairnet was a perfect fit for his huge hair bun, of course, it should, as it was his hairnet. After the shower, he wore his school uniform. Everything that happened for a week felt like a dream. No one would even believe if he said, that he had short hair before. Inside his cupboard, he found a lot of hair pins, barrettes, and hair bands, including some female hair jewellery. Even his past photos have changed to align with this new reality. He saw various photos of him and his aunt having the same hairstyles for various occasions. photos from his school albums have changed too. There was no proof of him with short hair.
His mom suddenly barged into his room. “Krishna what are you doing, the school bus is going to arrive in 15 min”. So much that he’s been caught up with his thoughts, he completely forgot to keep track of the time. He still had to style his hair in twin braids. He somehow knew that’s how he’s been styling his hair for all these schooling years as that’s the hairstyle code of the school girls.
Krishna’s mom offered her help in braiding his hair. He sat still while his mom started braiding his hair. This is going to be the new normal from now on. He had to get up a few minutes early every day, so he could braid his hair in time before the school bus arrived.
He was a little nervous meeting the outside world, especially his friends. Even with all these changes, his friends were still the same. Although he will no longer be able to have any conversation with them about sports, he still has the same bond. When they go for their cricket practice, he joins his class girls for the Bharatanatyam practice and he is pretty good at it.
8 months have passed. Live every weekend, He woke up early and went to a flower shop, he specifically bought individual jasmine flowers, so that he could string flower garlands by himself. He bought enough for him and his mom. Krishna made 2 flower garlands. He showered, styled his hair in a loose hairstyle and fixed one jasmine garland to his hair using pins. He and his mom with hairs adorned with jasmine, walked to the Vishnu temple for the morning puja.
“The Dharshan was very good today”, his mom said. “Hello, excuse me” he heard was voice calling him. It was the same girl he saw first, after getting cursed by that witch. “Here, it's my 18th birthday today”, she offered chocolate to him and his mother. Thank you, Krishna replied.
She has a really nice hair like you Krishna, his mom said to him. “But neither his mom nor the girl knows, that he got this beautiful hair from that girl and his hair is an exact copy of hers. he will unfortunately have to carry this beautiful hair, forever attached to his head and no one can change it.”
The end.
Krishna, an arrogant teenage boy gets cursed by a witch and goes through transformations. will he be able to break the curse? stay tuned to find out..
