11/16 Status Update

Netoria Tactics 2 is out! And it's been selling great, it's brought in more revenue in this week than my Patreon ever has in a year. Which brings up a question, do I really need these crowdfunding sites? Well... they are a good source of baseline income, I just need to make sure the rewards are worth it, I don't like feeling like I'm ripping people off.

But Netoria Tactics 2 has a problem in that I can't just give out builds of the game for $10, I sell it for $15 on Steam. If Steam figured out I had it for sale somewhere undercutting them they'd boot me off the platform, and since I make more money from them than here, I'm not going to risk that. But I still want to give out preview builds, so how can I do that? Well, I just need to do something that gives you access to a special build, but requires you to already have the game on Steam. And luckily, there is something like that! A beta. I can create a beta branch that's ahead of the regular version and make access to it a reward. So you subscribe to the $10 tier and you can play the new content ahead of time. It will be buggy and unfinished content, but it will be new stuff.

My plan is that I'll create a locked post that contains the password to that beta branch as well as instructions on how to use it. And bam! Access and I'm not undercutting Steam. Unfortunately, this only works if you already have the game on Steam, but I can't think of another way to do it besides selling the early version for $15 flat for just that download, and that would be way too much. The whole point of selling it on Steam like this is you DON'T have to keep paying my $X over and over and over just to play it. This Patreon is supposed to be a tip jar for bonus stuff, not a prerequisite to play at all.

Naked Ambition will still have the normal preview and test builds, and one of those will be coming sometime in the future. I've got all the art for this update so now I just need to do lots and lots of writing. And I have been doing that, so the new update will be done at some point if I don't move the goalposts. now that the launch is done, I plan to devote more time to Naked Ambition, I don't think I'll manage to get .9 done this year, but January is possible. Either way it's going to be a very big update.

Netoria Tactics 2 seems pretty stable, I've been patching it but there haven't been tons of bug reports or features that need to be reworked. So I'm moving on already to Act 2 stuff. I need to do a lot of baseline Act 2 content as well for this first update like skills for all the new neutral classes. There's also lots of new gropes that need to be made, like this one.

If you're worried about how the gropes in Act 1 are pretty tame, don't be. There needs to be room for things to grow. We'll get to people fucking each other in the middle of combat by the end. That was a problem the first game had where after a certain point the climax of the content had basically been reached but the game still had a bunch of levels to go. That's why the game is set up in acts, so one story line can climax and move onto the next. The little drama of who of the main four is fucking each other is only the first part of the story, not the whole thing.

As an example of that, today's preview art is for the Vashti villain route with Kamaal. We've had Vashti dominating people, Vashti having loving sex, but how about Vashti herself being dominated?

From powerful sorceress to sucking on the balls of the son of her worst enemy. How much further can Vashti fall? A lot! This is only her second scene on this route. It'll be nice to write some more NTR for my NTR focused game. Now that you've decided what relationship Vashti is in, you can tear it apart.
