9/20 Status Update
Added 2025-09-19 23:16:47 +0000 UTCFirst off, Naked Ambition .83 will be out next Friday. That's right, we're less then a week away from the first public update of the game in two years. Of course, some of you are already playing it. And not reporting any of the bugs! I know they're there, I've found tons of them. But that's okay, as long as you're enjoying the game, minus all the bugs.
This update has been a lot more work than I was planning it on being. All the changes are so dispersed throughout the game it takes a long time to actually try them out. There's a lot of game in there, I'm surely going to forget about some of it. So a .84 that's just bug fixes and oversights is almost assured. But after that I'll be able to get onto what people really want, the extension of the end of game point to the actual end of the game! The fabled .9. People have spoken in hushed tones of its coming for generations, eons passing with nary a whisper of progress. Well I've got more than a whisper now! It's happening!
Last week I showed some of the work in progress art for the endings, so let's see another one of those:

It's less sexy than last week, but it's still a fun ending. This is the enthroned, neutral dominance ending for the Player and Princess. Just a wholesome, queen fucking her chief advisor situation. In private, of course. I'd say this is probably about the default of what you'd expect from an enthroned Princess ending in this game. Well enjoy it, because there's not a lot of them like this! I'm more of a fan of the crazy endings like the Princess turns the kingdom into demonic orgy cult, or the Princess runs off to join the peasant revolution. And I'm making the endings, so what I want goes.
I think development of .9 will go pretty smoothly. Replaying the game so much has put me in a much better headspace for writing more of it. I've got the voices of all the characters back up in my noggin, which is very important for a game that's 95% dialogue. But October seems very unlikely now, seeing as that's only one month and I'm pretty sure it's going to take more than that.
Especially since the break from working on Netoria 2 is basically over. I need to start churning out updates once Act 1 actually comes out, and that's not too long now. As long as Steam actually lets me release it, and that's less certain than I thought it was going to be. I guess I'll find out soon enough. I have a pretty fun piece of art to show off today for Netoria 2, so let's look at that.

It's more Vashti POV stuff! And it's going to be Vashti POV stuff for a while because that's what the scene artist is drawing right now. This is Vashti in her Djinn form, both the naughty and nice routes have special Djinn scenes you can unlock. Mostly did this to make the futa content more optional, which means I can go more crazy with it like having futa on male stuff and such. Vashti POV is going to have a dial that you need to keep either far to the naughty side or far to the nice side if you want to stave off Kamaal. But if you instead balance it in the middle, you access the Djinn stuff. That's how you access the Djinn form in battle too, by having your naughty/nice points balanced. And whichever side has more points at the end of the battle changes the overall naughty/nice balance.
Every POV in chapter 2 has their own mechanic like this. So exactly what you're doing in battle to affect the story and route outcomes is different for each. Zaman, for example, has to do side missions in battle to prove to Tariq that he's dedicated to the rebel cause. Of course, all this will probably change a bit once I actually make it and start tweaking things to make them fun. A lot of the times a mechanic sounds good, and then you play it and it just doesn't work. Like the corruption stuff in Naked Ambition. Good idea, didn't really achieve what I wanted it to.
