2/15 Status Update

Sorry about the lack of a real update last week. But I'm feeling better, eating food again and all that. Between the food poisoning and the trip I went on, progress has been delayed a bit. But not too badly, things are still progressing. I think it will still be at least a month until all the art needs are filled anyway, so mid-March is the earliest possible release for Netoria 2 Act 1. April is probably getting more likely at this point.

I know that this has been a long wait without many other releases from me. This is a pretty different sort of patreon than what's normally found in the adult game space. You're supporting me and whatever I work on, rather than a particular game. I know that's a harder sell, but that so many of you have had the faith to stay my patrons over this process makes me very grateful.

But the wait is almost over! Every scene is in place, even if some are underwritten at the moment. If I didn't keep going back and editing stuff that was already in the demos, I probably could have finished the writing by now. The last two levels, those are still rather incomplete. I know how they should work, but they're a little complex and need more time. Overall. I'm pretty happy with how things are turning out. I think the setup for Act 2 is strong and each main character has an interesting conflict and journey to go through. I think the struggle between the villain and the POV character is the most compelling thing in this game, even if players haven't really had a chance to see it yet. But Act 1 ends with that ready to be the main focus, hopefully that's enough of a hook to get people excited about Act 2 and the long development time that will take.

Here is the finished title screen for Netoria Tactics 2. This is one of the biggest pieces of art that needed to be finished for the release of the game and it's finally done. I think it turned out pretty well. The idea was to highlight the four main characters as a group. The POV gimmick of the game is a hard thing to get across in terms of marketing and such. It's not often stories let you shift who the main character is like this. Setting peoples expectations correctly for exactly what kind of experience the game is supposed to be is going to be a challenge.

What's not a challenge is drawing their attention with all the cool art! Here's Shahrazad in all her classes and forms. Act 1 above, Act 2 below. The only one missing is her boy form in Act 2, sword swallower. Compared to the first game, where most characters only had one piece of art, I think it's a pretty big improvement. One of the challenges from this though is making it consistent throughout the other pieces of art, like the sex scenes. Speaking of sex scenes...

Vashti and Azar? Having sex? That's not one of the routes! At least it's not if you play Zaman or Shah's POV. But Azar always seduces Vashti on his POV and Vashti, whose POV this art is from, gets together with Azar on the nice route. Vashti is the character with the most variation in her Act 2 routes. She can either solve the problem Kamaal represents by manipulating others, or embracing their help. And she's certainly doing a lot of embracing here.
