10/21 Status Update

Yesterday was supposed to be the release of At the Mountains of Friendship 1.1, but I didn't quite make the deadline. The voice acting for Sarah only came in today, and I had some small polish I didn't manage to get done in time as well. So we're looking at the rare mid-week release for this update. I already processed the voice acting, so I think I can get the rest of it done by Tuesday or Wednesday. This also means that the Netoria epilogues preview won't be done for this Friday since I've been working mostly on AtMoF. So it looks like the tentative schedule I posted a few updates back is going to be pushed back by about a week. But things are still mostly on track, no large delays or anything.

The big changes for AtMoF 1.1 are the new character Sarah, the save system, the leader system, several characters who had their abilities reworked, and some other minor tweaks and fixes. For the next few updates, I plan to include a new system in each of them to patch up some areas of the game that are bare bones or opaque. Along with that, I'm also planning to include a steady stream of things like new items, new monster abilities, etc. This kind of game really thrives on new content, so that's what I plan to deliver.

Speaking of new content, let's see how the girl we're working on for 1.2, BFF, is coming along.

Here she is in her magical girl costume. Although at this stage she's still a he. Hard to pick what pronouns to use when the character changes gender and sex mid-story. I'm just going to go with she since that's what all the other girls use. Just keeps things simpler. The main character art for BFF is almost done so the scene art will be started next. Because I've still been finishing up stuff for Sarah, the art will probably get done before my writing.

So that's what's going on with At the Mountains of Friendship. Just wait a few days and the new update will be in your hands. So let's talk about the other big update that's coming out soon, the Netoria Tactics epilogues. Not much news this week and there probably won't be until the update actually comes out. All I'm doing now is making those final mini-levels and fleshing out some writing. And then the game will be done! Aside from the expansions of course. I guess I could also call them "DLC" but they're free so I think labeling them as that is a little misleading. But this is a status update, so enough of me talking about semantics and more preview art!

This is from the fugitive ending. That's the one where both Gwen and Vivian get NTR'd. Carwyn's got a new fling and guess what? He's getting cucked again. Red hair too, guess he has a type. This is the most "depressing" ending, with all those sweet, sweet, negative emotions you NTR lovers crave. (Me, I'm the guy who craves them). Of course, there are several other, happier endings. One of the things I like about Netoria Tactics is that the outcomes of each route provides more context to the others. Knowing Carwyn can easily lose Gwen makes them getting together more sweet. And the flip slide seeing how happy they can make each other makes the ones where she betrays him hit harder.

After the epilogues update, my plan is to jump head-first into Naked Ambition again. I'm not going to give any concrete timeline on how long the expansions for Netoria will take, but it will be solidly my third priority for a bit so it might be a little slow. And fourth priority is finishing Futa Oasis. I've basically decided to just slap on the endings and call it done for now. Later I want to come back and make an improved version, but rather than let it languish as is I want to get that sweet, sweet, completed tag on it. No game left behind!

That's all for this week. As always, thank you for your continued support.

Comments

Ah, the fugitive ending. Talk about brutal. While I've always liked Gwen, I sorta took it for granted I'd lose her. Then along comes Vivian and I fall head over heels in love with her. Passionate with just the right mix of unhinged and conniving. I never even considered I might lose her, so her betrayal hit me like an isekai van.

Is the voice actress the "enemy" in this scenario?

And once again von Clausewitz is right: "No battleplan survives the first contact with the enemy." XD
