Status Update 3/11

Yesterday I put out a preview for Netoria Chapter 5. It's still missing some writing and content, so the true test build won't be out until next week. But it's coming along well, I'm starting to write the actual sex part of some of the sex scenes which is always the last part to be done. Especially in a game like this, what two characters are actually physically doing is less important than the reasons they are doing it and how they get to that point. So I write all the setup first, and then do the actual sex later.

One thing I'm a little worried about is story pacing in these next two updates. The next update has big sex stuff that happens all throughout it, and this one has the big sex stuff happen one level before the end. Right now, you get the big scene from this update, have one level, then immediately get more. But it is the end of the game, so drawing it out doesn't seem that necessary. I'm going to keep it as is, and if I need to add another level later to maintain proper pacing I'll figure that out next month.

Look at Emrys go, getting all the way to eating Gwenivier out. Is fucking her next? You'll have to wait until the end of the story to find out. This is the first update with actual sex in it that's not just a dream sequence/vision. A few routes have full sex, one even has anal. In general, this is the last piece of set up for the final escalation that happens in the final story chapter.

Of course, not all infidelity is caused by a slow build up. Sometimes, maybe most of the time, it's a spur of the moment thing, a moment of weakness. That's why Carwyn and Gwenivier's relationship isn't safe until the very end of the story. Even after this update there's still one more chance for Gwenivier to fall.

That's most of what I have to talk about for Netoria. Pretty much everything is in place, both for gameplay and story, now it's all about execution and drawing things to a satisfying conclusion. That's easier said than done, but I've had things mapped out from the start so I'll just finish the plan. If things are wonky, I can adjust from there.

Next up is At the Mountains of Friendship. Everyone's favorite game that actually isn't out and only exists in very unfinished Patreon preview builds. Well the plan is for those unfinished builds to become more or less finished builds very soon. The work on the UI continues, including one of the most important pieces, the frame.

This isn't finished, but it gives you an idea of what the finished frame is going to look like. After staring at the old one for so long it started to look fine to me, but this one is a lot more refined and a good upgrade overall. Plus I didn't have the rights to use the old one in a distributed game anyway since it was technically just concept art.

So this is pretty close to what the finished battle screen is going to look like. I took out some information, like the abilities of the girls. I did this because things were getting kind of cluttered and you can't effect combat at all once it's underway, so making things more streamlined made sense. You can always hover over girls mid-combat to view their abilities and stuff anyway.

One really important thing I'm going to have to do when things are more finished is the tutorial, you know letting people know how to actually play the game without messaging me asking how systems work. By next month, I think things should be done enough to make that, and at that point I'll put out another preview. The main thing the game will be missing at that point is writing and some voice acting. There's still LOTS of writing to get done with this game, which is kind of bad. Getting it all done in time for release while also writing other games is going to be a tough task.

Speaking of not doing a lot of writing, it's been a bit since the last update of Futa Oasis, but since as I've said before the next update is the last public one I'm still not that worried about it. I have been doing SOME writing though, so it'll get done.

Netoria Tactics is a really cool game. Besides the gameplay itself, it has a nice visual dash and style. Have you thought about making the "good ending" exclusive only to the hard difficulty level? I think there's nothing better for a true NTR fan than to fail in a real attempt to save his beloved, given the feel of the main character. PS: I haven't restarted the game since the second patch, I just hope you remember to develop the POV version of the main character ;-) PS2: I just prefer to wait for the finished product to avoid ruining too much fun for myself
