5/27 Status Update
Added 2022-05-27 22:54:19 +0000 UTCAnother week come and gone. This will be the last status update before the first big Futa Oasis update comes out. I figured out how to deal with adding things like bug fixes and gameplay changes to the public version within the rolling month early access window for patrons. I just release a .41 update and .5 at the same time. So the free version goes straight from .3 to .41 and $10 patrons get .5 which includes the .41 changes as well.
Wow, versioning logistics, how interesting. In news you probably care about more, I'm pretty set on what's going to be in .41. Here's the changelog as it stands:
- You can now combine two duplicate cards into one of a higher tier
- You can now trash two cards of the same tier to get a new random card of that tier
- You no longer gain cards by performing actions around town. Instead you gain 1 card from a choice of 2 at the end of the day. In the future these card gaining events will be random events with the villagers
- Added a player sprite that changes with the player's feminization
- Added fully rendered backgrounds to replace the sketch placeholders
- Added a faction system to the cardgame. Villagers asking questions have an associated faction. By answering specific questions well you can gain faction points which can then be spent in town
- Added the ability to talk to factions in town to gain new cards and favor with the romanceable character's associated with that faction.
- Added faction specific cards you can buy with faction favor
Not bad for one month's work. Most of these changes are to the cardgame, since that's the area of the game I felt needed the most adjustments. There's also a few fun art upgrades and changes in there, like the fully rendered backgrounds.

I don't know if people really noticed or cared that the backgrounds were pretty much just sketches, but the full versions are in the game now.
One thing a lot of people have been asking for is something to visually show how the player is changing if they decide to gulp down Gosuyu. The feminization stroyline is something I plan to expand a lot in general in the future, but for now player art is something that will be in the upcoming update.

This isn't final but it shows you the general progression the art will go through. And since we're talking about art, here's this update's scene preview.

This is for the new Zuri scene in the .5 update. In it Zuri and the player... well you get the idea.
I've been talking a lot about Futa Oasis lately, it's the new game after all. Well to me it's not new since I've been working on it for a long time, but it's newly released so I've had a lot of good feedback to incorporate and address. Naked Ambition is kind of on the backburner right now. I have no plans to stop developing it or anything, but I'm just not having a great time with it right now. But that pendulum will swing back soon enough I'm sure. There'll come a time when I can't stand looking at Yasmin's stupid smug face for a second longer and the welcoming arms of the Princess will be there for me.
I've also got my big game that was planned to replace Naked Ambition when it's finished, At the Mountains of Friendship. That timeline is kind of wonky now since I called an audible and decided to release Futa Oasis as a patreon project, but that doesn't change that it's coming. I've put a lot of work and a lot of money into it and I think it's really going to be something special. A lot of art is done for it now, including four of the playable characters. So let's see a group shot!

A lot in this picture is still work in progress, especially the UI. But that's starting to look like a full team of magical girls! The original plan was for this to come out in November, but I'm not sure now, we'll see. I definitely could get the first version done by then, but Naked Ambition isn't going to be finished, and Futa Oasis is already here to do the job of providing cool content for my loyal patrons. So if this needs more time in the oven I'll let it have it.
That's all for this week. As always, thank you for your continued support.
