4/16 Status Update

.7 is going pretty well. It's all writing at this point which takes some time. The most annoying thing about this update is because there's three different scenes for each council meetings plus all the random events, I have to write about 30 versions of the PC-Princess conversation. And while those don't take very long, there's still 30+ to get through in addition to the scenes. But pretty much everything besides writing and some art are in place so I'm on pace to finish the update not too long from now. Sometime next month it's looking like. I'm planning to put out a test build next week, so all you people in the $5 tier will have a chance to play the new content.

The big development this week is I gave the new futa game to the first playtesters. I got some good feedback, and I think I've come up with some solutions to design problems I was having. The futa game now contains.... a card game element. I guess it's pretty on brand for me.

The overall win/lose conditions of the game are now achieved via the card game and getting into relationships with the girls applies bonuses to said card game. This dynamic feels a lot better to me than the way it was previously, with the gameplay element providing a bonus to relationships. Now you have more of an incentive to pursue relationships beyond just the sexy (although that is a pretty good incentive in itself). The game should provide a nice twist on the usual harem visual novel gameplay with the new system. It was feeling a little flat with just talking to the girls so adding a big gameplay element on top of it will help a lot. In fact, I think the game is progressing well enough that it's time to start doing a little more previewing. So here's some character art.

I know it might feel a bit weird to hear all these tidbits about this mysterious game while you wait patiently for updates to the games I make that you actually can play, but I hope you can trust me that it'll be worth the wait. I'm not going to give a timeline since my last ones have been drastically wrong, but it's getting there. Maybe end of summer at this point, but maybe not. The game has gone through a lot of redesigns and changes. Hopefully the new card system will provide that last bit of oomph it needs to really be fun.
