Pick a Card

TF Card Battle .9 has been released and after a few bug fixes is mostly stable. That means it's time to move onto Naked Ambition. Or rather, I've been working on naked ambition for the past week or so. The new card based personality system is all in the game and I'm confident it makes for a much better experience. Of course there's some kinks to work out, but it mostly works well.

I'm now going to work on finishing all the content for the first build, A process I wasn't too far off from when I hit the kill switch last time. As for what this card based personality system is, I'll tell you.

The old version involved the Princess's personality being based on sliders. They would go up and down, and checks would happen and stuff would go. But that system was fairly obtuse and checks didn't feel impactful enough. My solution was to turn the slider based system into cards. So instead of a check being something like Aggressive 30, it will be Red 1. Stat checks mostly stay the same except you can play cards to boost your stats for that check. So most checks now involve the player actively playing a card, which is a much more engaging experience.

You add cards to your deck by choosing an activity associated with one of five colors, you'll then get a choice of three cards to add to your deck. You can also spend that weeks activity slot removing a card instead. Unlike TF Card Battle, there is no discard pile, once played a card goes to the deck immediately. Unused cards remain in your hand until played. The game is focused largely around planning ahead and making sure certain cards are in your hand at the right time.

A third test build for Naked Ambition will come once the whole first release is playable until the end. Thank you for your patience while I work on this, I'm confident it will be a great game once all the kinks and redesigns are worked out.
